Susie's well-earned holiday
Susie is away from 30 May on a well-earned break overseas, and will be back in the studio on Monday 20 June.

Susie leaves you in the capable hands of our highly experienced physiotherapists Kim Gerber, Sharyn Fulton and Alice Wood, who will be in the studio for Pilates and will also be available for physio consultations.

Our specialised and caring Pilates instructors will continue providing you with the very best of care in the studio.

Please be aware that while most Pilates sessions will continue to have a physio present for claiming purposes, there may be some sessions where a physio is not in the studio. Should you need to check please contact our reception staff on ph: 9518 5009 or email: info@evolutionpilates.com.au

Changes to the studio

We are currently re-configuring the studio making room for our new Garuda bed. Some of you may have already experienced Garuda exercise classes with Susie or Lisa. Now we have even more options for an expanded range of Pilates exercises with 'Garuda' variations.

James d'Silva from London  designed the apparatus, so people could experience his hybrid of Pilates/yoga/gyro kinesis influences in the flowing Garuda method.

We look forward to introducing you to exercises on this machine in the next few months.

Sharyn Fulton - Pelvic Floor Muscle health

'One in three women who have had a baby wet themselves - Every woman who has had a baby should do pelvic floor muscle training.' quote from the Continence foundation of Australia

Sharyn Fulton, physiotherapist, has a special interest in women’s health.  She will soon be available to assess and treat women who may have concerns about their pelvic floor strength, bladder control, management of prolapse, and musculoskeletal pain associated with pregnancy or childbirth.

Pelvic floor strength is such an important thing to work on and is a key element of core stability. Some people feel a bit confused as to whether they are switching on their muscles correctly. Sometimes a session with a pelvic floor health physiotherapist such as Sharyn can clarify this confusion, leaving you feeling more confident that you are correctly engaging the pelvic floor muscles.
Please check our website for more detail.

New administration staff

We say good bye to Sue Keating who has been assisting at reception. Sue is a producer and has returned to work on a television project. We wish her all the best. We welcome Melissa Maclean who will be at reception Thursday afternoon and Friday mornings.

******* Pilates tip for the month *******

People often ask if they should expect to feel pain whilst exercising in the Pilates studio. My answer is always ‘NO’! My saying is ‘muscular strain perhaps for some exercises, but no Pain’. Joint and nerve pain are never advised during exercise. Our exercise options are vast as you know, so we are happy to modify your exercises to make them effective and pain free. Please check with your clever instructors, if you have queries concerning this topic.

Sometimes your body is ready for a certain level of exercise load or difficulty, but not too much. With time and practise, your body becomes more able to try different variations, which ideally are designed to help you reach your goals. So enjoy challenging your body and mind, relaxing with breath and NO pain please.
