Welcome to the 29th edition of The Grapevine, keeping you up to date with what's happening across the county. 


Family Swim Session - Friday 3rd June

We have a swim session for children aged 0-17 years at Trinity Pool in Bedford. We will have exclusive use of the pool during this session and the whole family are welcome. 

Trinity Arts and Leisure will provide qualified lifeguards and play equipment.  There is also free parking available at the site.  You must book and pay in advance to attend, please call the Autism Bedfordshire office 01234 214871

Date:    Friday 3rd June
Time:    10.30-11.30 am
Cost:    £2.50 per swimmer
Venue:    Trinity Arts & Leisure, Bromham Road, Bedford, MK40 2QD.

Please note that children and young people must be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18 years. You must be a member of Autism Bedfordshire to attend these sessions.
Hart Hill Adventure Playground - Half Term Session

 

 We’ve booked exclusive use of Hart Hill Adventure Playground for children with additional needs. The playground is suitable for children (up to the age of 18) with disabilities or additional needs. Click here for more details.

Where: Falks Hill off Brooms Road/ Tower Road, Luton LU2 0FN. 
When:  Thursday 2nd June, 10.30am—12.30pm.
Cost:  £1.00 per child. No need to book just turn up and pay on the day.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times

Luton Summer Activity Scheme 2016
There are still places available at Autism Bedfordshire Summer Scheme in Luton....
 
Dates:     25th to 29th July  -  Junior Activity Scheme
              1st to 5th August  -  Junior and Senior Holiday Clubs
 
JUNIOR ACTIVITY SCHEME: For children with autism and Asperger Syndrome aged 3-9 years old.  We provide 1:1 and occasionally 2:1 where necessary, supporting up to 25 children each day.
 
JUNIOR HOLIDAY CLUB: For young people with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties between 10 - 13 years old. We provide 1:1 and 2:1 where necessary, supporting up to 8 young people each day.
 
SENIOR HOLIDAY CLUB: For young people with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties between 14 - 17 years old. We provide 1:1 and 2:1 where necessary, supporting up to 8 young people each day.
 
Time:     arrival 9.30—10am, collection 3.00pm
 
Venue:   Richmond Hill School, Sunridge Avenue, Luton LU2 7JL.
 
Cost:        £17.50 per child per day

Transition to Adult Life with SEN Seminar

Ambitious about Autism’s next seminar on TRANSITION TO ADULT LIFE for young people with SEN is now open for bookings. It will cover housing and supported living, benefits, employment and financial planning.

The seminar is on Wednesday 29th June in central London from 10 am to 2.30 pm and will be useful for parents and carers with a young person approaching age 14 or older, or professionals who work with them, and parents and carers of young adults. It is heavily subsidised for parents and carers (£10 including lunch), and promises to be a really useful and stimulating event.

Topics covered include:
• housing and benefits 
• supported living
• wills and trusts
• vocational training, employment and leisure planning
