Year 11 BTEC Performing Arts students perform their final musical theatre showcase - ‘Sweet Charity’

Year 11 BTEC Performing Arts students at The Boswells School, Chelmsford, performed their ‘Sweet Charity’ examination adaptation to an audience of parents and peers (May 11).

The performance was an opportunity, as part of their assessment, to showcase their developed skills from over the two-year course through performing an extract of the well-known musical.

The students performed numerous production numbers, choreographed by Paul Butler, including ‘Big Spender’, ‘Rhythm of Life’ and ‘If They Could See Me Now’.

Laura Willcox, Assistant Head of Expressive and Performing Arts, said: "The students have shown real growth since the beginning of the course.

"It is no mean feat to sing, dance and act at the same time, and they performed really well, with only approximately five weeks of rehearsal.”

She added: "The showcase was well attended with some 45 audience members - family and friends - supporting the girls in their very first showcase which was extremely well received.

"Well done girls, it’s been a pleasure teaching you for the two years, and good luck in your final exams."
