 Dear Spring 2016 Graduates,
It has been a real honor to serve as your academic advisor in what may have been an academic year, but
felt more like a split second and a whirlwind. I hope that wherever you go, you take with you all the new skills and knowledge that you have acquired, and likewise, continue to foster the new and valuable relationships you have created along the way.
You are now part of the O’Neill Institute family and the growing global health law community. We are proud of all of you, and you will be missed. Please remember to stay in touch! We have great opportunities for you to continue to be engaged with both the program and the O’Neill Institute.

 My Dearest Students,
It is with happiness and a touch of sadness to see you graduate from our Global Health LLM. You are a remarkable group of young scholars and you will be part of the O'Neill family for life. You can always count on me to support and guide you. We want to inspire you to make an impact on the health of your communities, locally, nationally, and globally. Just as important is your health and the health of your loved ones.
So my parting gift to you is this: Keep your life in balance: Eat a nutritional diet, don't be afraid to sleep as much sleep as your body needs, walk and recreate, and enjoy the love of your family and friends. Hasta luego, until the next time.

GLOBAL HEALTH LAW LL.M. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT:
MAURICIO GOMEZ GUERRERO
 Mauricio Gómez Guerrero serves as Anticorruption Attorney General* at COFEPRIS, the Mexican equivalent in the US to the Food and Drug Administration. In May 2016, Mauricio was appointed by the Secretary of the Mexican Anticorruption Department to head the Anticorruption Office of the Agency, an autonomous position from COFEPRIS Federal Commissioner with independent legal and administrative capacities.
As Anticorruption Attorney General, Mauricio is in charge of the surveillance and internal auditing of the Agency’s administration as well as the processing of claims against public officers for irregular practices or corruption allegations. His legal capacities include sanctioning public officers declared guilty in administrative procedures with labor suspensions, removing officers from their position, temporary disqualifying them from serving in public office and fines. The Anticorruption Office also issues diagnoses, observations and recommendations for best regulatory and administrative practices at the Agency.
Prior to joining the Anticorruption Office at COFEPRIS, Mauricio was head of the Life Sciences practice at DLA Piper Mexico, he also served as Chief of the Office and Private Secretary of COFEPRIS former Federal Commissioner and worked in two prestigious Mexican law firms focusing on commercial law and government affairs.
Mauricio holds an LL.M. in Global Health Law from Georgetown University Law Center, where he also obtained a Certificate in Food and Drug Law, a J.D. from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and has additional studies at Harvard Law School and Columbia University.

GLOBAL HEALTH LAW LL.M. FACULTY SPOTLIGHT:
DANIEL LUCEY
 Daniel R. Lucey is a Senior Scholar with the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law. Dr. Lucey is an adjunct professor of microbiology and immunology at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and is a Senior Scholar at the O'Neill Institute. A physician trained in infectious diseases and public health, he has taught for 11 years at Georgetown on global emerging infectious diseases. He completed his infectious disease training and MPH at Harvard and worked in the US Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health.
His infectious disease training and MPH were at Harvard 1985-1988, after medical residency at UCSF, and medical school and college at Dartmouth. After working at the NIH and Washington Hospital Center until 2002, he co-founded a graduate program on emerging infectious diseases and biohazardous threat agents at GUMC. He has traveled widely in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to exchange information regarding infectious diseases such as SARS, influenza, Nipah, HIV, anthrax, and MERS. Dr. Lucey is an author on over 100 papers and book chapters.

She was elected by popular vote by her peers (beyond the GHL LL.M. Program). It is with great pride that we share her words with you (click here to read the complete version).
- Professor Gostin visits Argentina and enjoys a delicious dinner with alumni, O'Neill Institute partners, and former O'Neill Institute research assistants.
- Benn McGrady, LL.M. alumn and former O'Neill Institute Trade, Investment, and Health Director, was quoted extensively by BBC News in "Cigarette Plain Packs to "Go Global."
