The Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria is pleased to announce that our 2nd Annual Juried Fine Arts Show, 'Art Victoria Now' opened to the public on Saturday, May 14th! We were very impressed by the quality of work submitted for this show. Over sixty artists from Greater Victoria and the surrounding areas are participating in this exhibition with an exceptional range of 2D, 3D and photographic works included. Art Now Afterhours
A big thank you to all those who joined us for our Art Now Afterhours gala on Friday May 13th! We had a wonderful time celebrating the opening of our 2nd Annual Juried Fine Arts Show, Art Victoria Now. Thank you too all the artists who took part in this wonderful exhibition, our musical performers - the Tom Vickery Trio, Victoria Poet Laureate - Yvonne Blomer, Victoria Youth Poet Laureate - Ann-Bernice Thomas, and special guests Emily Rogers, Scott Sollazo, John Barton, Holly Simpson, SJ Valiquette and Jeremy Loveday. Help Wanted
Volunteers are needed to assist with the sitting and cleanup of the CACGV's "Art Victoria Now."
BC Culture Days invites all B.C. artists to apply to be a 2016 Culture Days Ambassador in their community. Winners will receive $1,000 towards community activation and production of a Culture Days activity!
The Culture Days Ambassador acts as a spokesperson for BC Culture Days and as a community mobilizer throughout the summer leading up to the Culture Days weekend (September 30-October 2, 2016).
Eligibility Requirements - The applicant must:
Be an individual artist (amateur or professional) residing in B.C.
Applications from organizations, businesses or groups are not eligible;
Be active in their arts, culture or heritage community; and
Register at BC.CultureDays.cato present an activity in B.C. during the 2016 Culture Days weekend (September 30-October 2, 2016).
Ambassador Responsibilities include:
Networking and mobilizing — Reaching out to community members such as individual artists, arts organizations, cultural organizations, heritage organizations, and businesses encouraging them to offer activities during the Culture Days weekend.
Promoting — Encouraging public participation and discussion about Culture Days through in-person interviews with community members, blog posts, and social media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
Organizing — Registering and coordinating a free Culture Days activity for the public.
Representing — Acting as spokesperson and media contact during the Culture Days publicity campaign. The ambassador may be called upon for TV, Radio, and Newspaper interviews to speak on behalf of BC Culture Days and their local arts and culture community.

Submissions will be juried by members of the BC Culture Days Task Force. Winners will be awarded $1,000 (includes ambassador honorarium + activity budget).
Winners will be required to submit a final report in October.

Join the Culture Days movement and be a part of B.C.'s largest celebration of arts, culture and heritage! All professional and amateur artists, arts organizations, cultural workers and community organizers from Victoria are invited to participate in a free workshop in preparation for the 2016 Culture Days weekend. Participants will learn how to plan, market and publicize their Culture Days activities, as well as connect with other artists and organizers to find ways of working together collaboratively towards their common public engagement goals. Please come prepared to brainstorm ideas and determine what activities, projects, discussions or initiatives deserve to be highlighted in your community and unique ways in which they can be shared with the public.
