Healthy aging in the workplace means staying connected


June is the Seniors' Month and the theme this year is "Seniors' Making a Difference".

In a workplace, older adults contribute life experience and a unique perspective.
Importantly, Canadians are staying in the workforce longer than before, as work offers personal fulfillment, social inclusion and physical well-being.

Supportive relationships and a sense of belonging with family and friends, as well as co-workers and managers, can contribute to good physical and mental health. One study, for example, has shown that women are more likely to remain employed, if they have a well-established social network at work.

Take a walk in nature - lift your mood and increase your productivity!

Activ8 Your Stride Workplace Pedometer Challenge

 
Thank you  to Cleveland Range, Fellowes Canada, Matheson/TapaMatheson, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Victaulic Company of Canada and Windfall Ecology for their participation in Activ8 Your Stride Workplace Pedometer Challenge.  
The Challenge was hosted by York Region Public Health from June 6 to 13, 2016. There were a total of 242 enthusiastic walkers, who walked about 20,378,769 steps in total which is about 16,303 kilometers.
