Alair Edmonton Takes Home The National Gold Award! 

Completed in early 2015, the Chrenek Acres project grew from a simple garage addition to a full-scale renovation and addition. Alair Homes Edmonton utilized the majority of the existing structure to keep reconstruction costs to a minimum. Every element of the house was upgraded and updated, from the insulation to the trusses, as well as every interior and exterior finish. Complete with a half-size outdoor ice rink, a full-sized outdoor kitchen and entertaining area, and a custom built wine rack in the kitchen, the house was built to suit the homeowner’s lifestyle.

Alair Homes Edmonton also received the CHBA-Alberta award for ‘Best Renovation Over $500,000,’ as well as two CHBA-Edmonton Region awards for ‘Best Exterior Renovation’ and ‘Best Renovation Over $500,000’ for the same property. It’s the first time Alair Homes has had a clean sweep at the municipal, regional and national CHBA Awards for one project.

The new CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence are the successors to the Association’s National SAM Awards, established 37 years ago. In total, 33 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence were presented at the Association’s 73rd National Conference in Kelowna.

Alair is excited to announce the opening of the Carolina's with the signing of Jennings Smith in Summerville, SC. Jennings, along with project managers Mark Temple, Daniel Peek, Martin McGinnes, and Michael Coutu opened their doors as Alair Homes in May. Jennings is an 8th generation Summerville native who is very involved in his community. An entrepreneur at heart, Jennings gained notoriety in Summerville at the age of 13 when he opened his own window washing business.

After graduating from high school, Jennings obtained his residential builders license at just 19. Jennings continued his education at Clemson University and pursued his degree in Business Management while he built homes during the summer. Jennings operated Reality Construction for 15 years prior to joining Alair Homes. When he is not working, Jennings enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica, his two sons Jennings and McCarthy, and being involved in his church. He has also been known to catch a big fish or two.

The Alair Homes Edmonton team has completed an amazing renovation. Built in 1990, this 5,500 sq ft home was gracefully expanded to 7,800 sq ft. The homeowners loved their location and acreage life but the home was not functional or well-designed. The goal of the renovation was to open up the existing space and increase the functionality of its design. The homeowners also wanted to be as environmentally responsible as possible.




Slab-panel cherry veneer doors in a Hermosa stain define the gourmet kitchen with crowd-pleasing appeal. A Servo drive recycling centre provides automatic ease with spice pullouts on either side of the range. Tall upper cabinets and wide drawers also accommodate large capacities with reinforced slides. Dual-island function includes breakfast bar charm within a décor anchored by large format ceramic tile. Thick slab, double-beveled, granite countertops add weight to the setting, complementing the glass mosaic backsplash that borders the custom anodized aluminum wine rack with mosaic tile and LED lighting.




Warmed, large-format ceramic tile extends to the four-season sunroom where a stone pebble border edges a bright, rustic retreat. Kettle Valley granite ledge stone clads fireplace features with a solid fur mantle. Above, a hand-textured, reclaimed-finish beam ceiling exhibits continuous grain appeal with finely crafted Douglas fir engineered box beam details.

Alair Homes was honoured at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence, held May 6 2016 in Kelowna, British Columbia. The company’s Edmonton office won the ‘Whole House Renovation Over $500,000’ award for its Chrenek Acres project — a complete transformation renovation in Sherwood Park.
