This happened....

A Four Month Blitz!
It's hard to believe that it has been four months since the last newsletter. Life intervened. However, we are back on track and we promise to keep you informed and entertained.

Here's a brief recap of what happened in the last four months. In February, Eldonie became a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) New York and attended the NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, CA. In March, it was a marvel to behold when Tom Hiddleston (aka Loki) visited NYC for a BAFTA event and the music was "Miles Ahead" at a special screening of the Don Cheadle movie. April rain could not put a damper on the BAFTA masterclass featuring documentary filmmaker John Smithson at Lincoln Center or The Television Academy "From Scotland to Paris: The Season Two Journey of Outlander" at NYU Skirball Center. Then in May,  a trip to London to attend the BAFTA TV Awards was most exciting. And to cap it all off, Eldonie was the arbitrator in a music licensing dispute case for breach of contract for failure to pay royalties. A blitz might have been an understatement! A special mention must be made of Eldonie's fashion designer client, Marco Hall, who always keep her red carpet ready!

Artist Trying to Break Free
For a while the Kesha v. Dr. Luke case was dominating the trades and seemed like something ripped from a Hollywood script. Artist signs to label as a teenager and now wants to get out. There are claims of sexual assault and drug abuse and celebrities coming out in support of their embattled sister. The case went off the airwaves until the label decides to withdraw its permission for Kesha to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. How will this case end? Only time will tell. A Change is Coming to Copyright
Copyright law has not always kept up with technological advances which move at a rapid pace. To address this problem, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued a report recommending amendments to the copyright law. The report looks at three hot topics in copyright remixes, “first sale doctrine” and statutory damages. See the full report "White Paper on Remixes, First Sale, and Statutory Damages."

Looking Ahead....
