In addition to landscapes, I've been continuing to develop my portrait techniques. I'm trying to find the balance between subtle blending and dynamic brushwork. This example is an experiment in glazing (versus alla prima).

Painters Painting Painters Show
With the show less than four months away, I thought I'd share a few of the pieces that are being created.
First, here is my portrait of the painter Karen Offutt. I loved playing with the dramatic shadows and it was my first time using a circular panel.

Next, here's the amazing piece that she did of me. I especially love that she captured the multicolored manicure (work of my 7-year-old daughter).

I'll share more pieces in the newsletters leading up to the opening. In addition to Karen and me, the show will feature works by Jennifer Balkan, Chris Chappell, Felice House, Karen Maness, Revi Meicler, Mike Peterson, Johnnie Sielbeck, and Robert Summerlin. It's going be such a great show!
The Painters Painting Painters show will be at Davis Gallery September 24th - November 5th, 2016.
