IWBF is pleased to introduce our newest “IWBF Team” member - Stephanie Gagne
Stephanie Gagne recently joined IWBF as our new volunteer Communication Coordinator. She will be assisting us approximately one day per week as part of our new communication structure.
Stephanie Gagne is the former Communications Manager for British Wheelchair Basketball and will be supporting the IWBF with the creation and delivery of their marketing and communications strategies.
Stephanie has worked in marketing and communications roles for over 12 years including five years at British Wheelchair Basketball. She currently works as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire where she is responsible for public relations, digital media, strategic planning and branding.
Having spent time in the past working and volunteering in wheelchair basketball Stephanie brings an in-depth knowledge of wheelchair basketball. She has managed the communications activities for the GB wheelchair basketball team at London 2012 Paralympic Games, two World Championships and three European Championships. She has also led on the media and marketing for major International events such as the World Championships 2010, Women’s European Championships 2009, as well as national competitions. In addition to her work within wheelchair basketball, she has worked in professional sport at Harlequins Rugby Club and in the corporate sector for the NEC Group.
Stephanie will contribute her time and knowledge with IWBF to help further promote the growth and development of wheelchair basketball as a great sport across the world.
Stephanie will join us in RIO at the Paralympic Games where she will continue the work of promoting wheelchair basketball to the world.

IWBF Premieres “Introduction to Wheelchair Basketball for Developing NOWBs” project next month in India
Hyderabad, India will be the first to host this IWBF initiative from June 22-26, 2016. Thanks in part to the financial support of the AGITOS Foundation, the IWBF and The Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) will work to deliver four modules covering coaching/player development, classification, officiating and governance.
IWBF is pleased to be working with the WBFI to organize the first course. Madhavi Latha, President of WBFI has been working very hard to prepare for a successful event. We expect to see more than 150 participants over 5 days.
Thailand will be sending a team to India to play some friendly games during the course, which should make it an exciting week of wheelchair basketball for all involved.
Norbert Kucera, Chairman of the IWBF Technical Commission, Toufic Allouche, Classification officer Asia Oceania, Maurice Hammerton, Development Officer Europe and Maureen Orchard, Secretary General of IWBF will be there to share their experience with the participants and serve as instructors.
This is the first of it's kind program offered by the IWBF, one we hope will be the first of many more to come.
IWBF issues tender for website development
IWBF are seeking a company to lead on the development and production of a new website for the International Sports Federation.

Wheelchair basketball Schedule finalized – to be released shortly
Maureen Orchard, Technical Delegate for wheelchair basketball in Rio2016 confirmed that the schedule has been completed and approved by RIO 2016. It is just waiting for a final polishing from RIO Marketing and then it will be released. Look to the IWBF website for more information soon!

In the April e-news the IWBF failed to mention that Gustavo Mathias, Brazil, who is headed to the Rio 2016 Paralympic games, was previously also an official at the London 2012, Paralympic games.
