SUMMER READING: NOT JUST FOR KIDS
Adult Summer Reading returns to the Santa Monica Public Library as we challenge you to Exercise Your Mind. READ! We’ll be celebrating with special programs, book discussions, movie screenings, and much more. Sign up to participate at any SMPL location beginning June 11, then turn in your completed form by August 20 to be eligible to win prizes for your summer reading activities. HOW-TO FESTIVAL
Join us for a day full of 45-minute workshops on a variety of topics. Learn how to play the ukulele, how to improvise, how to manage stress, how to hula hoop, make spring rolls, care for your dog, use the cloud, meditate and more! Workshops available for all ages.

SMPL RECEIVES PREXCELLENCE AWARD
The Library has been named a co-recipient of the California Library Association's 2016 PRExcellence Award. This honor recognizes print materials -- a postcard set and booklet, The Santa Monica Public Library: An Illustrated History -- that were created for SMPL's 125th Anniversary Celebration in January. These images and more can be viewed in the Santa Monica Image Archive, which illustrates the history of the Santa Monica Bay area from 1875 to the present day.
