"Craftsmanship is Mastery" – indeed it is! In this Spark UPDATE there’s news about the opportunities we’ve had recently to share our expertise and experience with others. And how we keep developing our craftsmanship.

Michel scouts for Dutch Design Awards

We’ve received some exciting requests to deploy our expertise lately. Rotterdam School of Management – one of Europe's biggest International Business Schools – asked us to share our knowledge in a training film. The film, featuring Michel and Diederik, forms part of the Innovation Management course – one of the courses that the RSM (part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam) is making globally available as a Massive Open Online Course.

In addition, Michel was asked to participate in the selection committee for the Dutch Design Awards. This leading Dutch design prize is awarded annually for the best of Dutch design. Last year, Spark director Maarten Wilming fulfilled a similar role as a member of the jury of the international iF Design Awards.

Designer for a day

Schoolgirl Nina Touw, in year 6 of VWO, wanted to know if a course in design would suit her. And so she called Spark to see if she could drop by and try it out. We were happy to oblige, because we think it’s important to promote technology and stimulate talent.
During her day at Spark Nina worked on a mood board, hand drawings, modelling and 3D-printing. She mailed us afterwards to say: "Success – it works! I’m so proud!" and she sent us a video of the working product.
