Marion Pool Open for the Season

The Marion Municipal Swimming Pool, located in Willowood Park at 1855 35th Street in Marion is open for business. Visit our website for more information.
 
Hours
Lap Swim:     11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. (daily)
Open Swim:  12:30-8 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
                      12:30-7 p.m. (Saturday-Sunday)             

Special Hours
June 6-10 & June 13-17 due to evening swim lessons.

Open Swim: 12:30-4 p.m. (Monday-Friday)

Family Nights
Every Wednesday and Sunday evening, from 4 p.m. to close, bring the family and enjoy a night of swimming for only $12. Admission can include up to a maximum of 2 adults and 4 children under the age of 18.

June 19 is $2 day.  Pay only $2 per person and enjoy a fun Sunday at the pool.
Freedom Festival Bike Ride and Concert
Sunday, June 26


New in 2016! The Freedom Festival is offering the opportunity for cyclists of all ages and skill levels to get out and enjoy a bike ride. This registered ride offers several options, ranging from 3.3 miles to 75 miles. All cyclists will start and finish at Lowe Park in Marion. Learn more at www.freedomfestival.com. Then at 5:30 p.m., enjoy a concert by Airwaves under at the Klopfenstein Amphitheater for the Performing Arts. Hosted by Marion Parks and Recreation and the Freedom Festival.

Marion Farmers’ Market at Taube Park

The Marion Farmers’ Market offers a variety of locally grown produce, fresh baked goods, flowers, homemade crafts, and much more. Stop by Taube Park on Saturday morning and check out all the fantastic offerings that are produced right here in your own community.

Get out and enjoy some of the most beautiful assets that the city of Marion has to offer, our PARKS! We have compiled a new list of items (and actions) you might come across while visiting some of our parks. One entry per person please.

Marion Sharks Swim Team - Children Ages 6-18
Still time to register, open to all swimmers who are able to swim 25 yards. Participants have the opportunity to compete against other area teams. Coached by Colton Ironside & Marion pool staff.
Fee: $80 per child (includes $15 to Cedar Rapids)
Dates/Times: June and July, Practices held 6:45-8 a.m.
Location: Marion Municipal Swimming Pool at Willowood Park

Tot Time at Lowe Park - Children Ages 2+
Looking for something fun to keep your little one busy and active?  Parents and children will have access each day to a variety of sports equipment and games to play with. No structure or instructor, just show up and play with the provided equipment! This program is held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather or rain, the program will be canceled.
Fee: FREE
Days/Dates: Tuesdays, June 7-July 26
Time: 10-11 a.m.
Location: Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center

Happy Feet Soccer - 3 Year Olds
This program introduces players to organized soccer in a fun, non-competitive environment. A variety of soccer skills and fundamentals are introduced.
Fee: $33, includes program shirt
Days/Dates: Mondays AND Wednesdays, July 18–27
Time(s): 10-10:30 a.m. OR 5:30-6 p.m.  (Choose One)

Little Pigskins Football - 4 Year Olds
Children learn the basics of football without the contact. Coaches combine fun and fundamentals through skill-building drills and activities while emphasizing the importance of good sportsmanship.
Fee: $33, includes program shirt

Need a mid-week recharge? The Marion Blue Zones® team will host a weekly walking moai at the Depot in City Square Park. Every Wednesday through October 5. Meet at the Depot staircase at noon each week for a 20-30 minute walk through Uptown Marion.

Marion by Moonlight Returns This Thursday
Congratulations to Farmers State Bank as they celebrate their 20th
annual Marion by Moonlight concert series. The festivities take place Thursday evenings in June from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in City Square Park. Performances include:

5K4K9 Run/Walk is This Saturday
Join us for the annual 5K4K9 Run/Walk to benefit the Marion Police Department’s K9 unit. It will take place Saturday, June 4 with the 5k starting at 8 a.m. followed by a kids’ 1-mile fun run at 9 a.m. The events will start and finish at the Linn-Mar Stadium on North 10th Street. Register online at www.marionpolice5k4k9.com. Registration forms will also be available onsite.

Marion BBQ Rendezvous Returns June 4
The Marion Metro Kiwanis are hosting their 6th annual BBQ Rendezvous presented by United Fire Group on Saturday, June 4. The event features award-winning KC BBQ with proceeds going to help build a Miracle League Field at Prospect Meadows. The event will run from noon-9 p.m. in City Square Park. Admission is free so bring a lawn chair and enjoy BBQ, live music and more. For more details visit www.marionmetrokiwanis.org.
