A Visit from The Geelong Project

Working together with our Australian friends at The Geelong Project.

This month, we received a visit from representatives from The Geelong Project (TGP) in Australia. TGP is one of the first proven models for school-based interventions that prevent youth homelessness. Raising the Roof has adapted this model for the Canadian context as The Upstream Project (TUP) with two Pilot communities in Ontario.
Dr. David MacKenzie and Peter Jacobson presented in Toronto and the two Pilot communities. These discussions provided valuable insight into the program model established by TGP, setting the stage for the Pilot which begins in York and Niagara regions in September. Through collaboration, we can better support our young people!

The Toolkit will be released on June 8th and can be accessed on the
Homeless Hub. Sign-up now for the accompanying webinar, led by Dr. Alina Turner.

Community Spotlight: Desmond

Desmond, along with some of his fellow students at Harbord Collegiate Institute in Toronto, collected donations over the course of a week to support our school-based homelessness prevention initiative. He says, "The reason we picked Raising the Roof is because of The Upstream Project specifically because we thought it was a very simple and good idea."

Thanks for your support, Desmond!
