Cornerstone Presbyterian Church
Newsletter - June 3, 2016

A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, Founded 2013

Dear Friends,

This week we enter into an exciting week at Cornerstone as Vacation Bible School begins this coming Monday, June 6! This year children will be sleuths attempting to solve the case of the puzzling parables. Each day they will learn about a different parable and what these parables teach us about who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and how we are to respond in living for Him. The children will go to an opening assembly that includes music and skits, and then they will go to various stations where they will hear the Bible stories read and taught, participate in a missions activity, work on crafts, and enjoy recreation together before coming back for a closing assembly. In all these activities, it is our prayer that children will grow in their love for Jesus and one another as they are taught His Word and loved by the volunteers throughout the week.

VBS is an opportunity for the whole church to be involved together in ministering to our covenant children as well as other children and families in the community. Indeed, you can be involved in VBS, even if you are not able to be present in the mornings next week. How?

1.  Pray - Monday-Thursday next week from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM, VBS will be happening. Pray for the children who will come to VBS. Pray for the volunteers who will be leading VBS. There are over 30 volunteers involved in VBS. Adults, high school students and middle school students are all helping lead VBS. It is a wonderful picture of the body of Christ working together.

2.  Give - One of the activities that the children will be participating in this year is a missions activity in support of New Hope Children’s Clinic. They will not only learn about serving in local missions, but will also be working to pack together and personalize donations that have been brought to the church. Please bring the following items to the church by this Sunday, June 5 to help contribute to this missions effort.

           ITEMS NEEDED:

Children’s Books (new or used), Stuffed Animals (new or used), Care Boxes (Small shoeboxes/plastic containers). We will fill the containers with small items for children:

Toothbrushes * Toothpaste * No sugar added fruit juice boxes

Hand sanitizer * Swim goggles * Peanut butter & cheese crackers

Small bottles of sunscreen * Stickers * Sunglasses

3.  Eat -  Seriously! Come eat with us! Next Thursday, June 9 there will be a VBS Family Dinner at the church at 6:00 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for the church family to gather and celebrate the end of VBS with the children. Children will share what they have learned throughout the week and we will give thanks for what the Lord has done.

We look forward with joy to seeing what God will do in the lives of our children. We are giving thanks already for the many volunteers who have spent time preparing for VBS and are grateful for their labors. Thank you for your prayers and participation in VBS 2016!

Blessings,

Pastor Brian
