After 194 HRs, Kinsler finally slams

Games played May 31, 2016

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler stroked the first grand-slam home run of his career to narrow the Angels' lead to 9-8, but the halos held on to win 11-9. Kinsler also singled and helped convert three double-plays. Before Tuesday, the 33-year-old All Star had hit 194 home runs, not one of them with the bases loaded.

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia drove in three runs with a two-run home run and an RBI double as the A's beat Minnesota, his former team, 7-4. The 3rd-inning HR put Oakland up 3-2 after trailing 2-1, and the 5th-inning double broke a 3-3 tie. Valencia was homerless through May 12, but since then he's hit eight round-trippers.

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun hit an RBI double in a 10-3 loss to the Cardinals, and his throw to second base in the 4th inning easily caught Jedd Gyorko trying to stretch a single into a double. The assist was Braun's fifth of the season, tying him for second place among N.L. left fielders. He has yet to make an error in 2016.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar, walked, stole a base, and put the Blue Jays ahead for good with an RBI double in the 7th inning of a 4-1 win over the Yankees.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson went hitless in a 5-0 win over the Cubs but backed-up starter Scott Kazmir with two nice catches, including one that robbed Anthony Rizzo of a hit.

Jon Moscot's first start since coming off the disabled list did not go his way. The Cincinnati right-hander gave up eight hits -- including four HRs -- and seven earned runs over just two innings as the Rockies pulled away 17-4. He is 0-3 for the season.

In a two-inning relief stint, Houston P Scott Feldman yielded one earned run on three hits as the Astros prevailed 8-5.
