Hi <<First Name>>

It seems that summer became winter overnight as we slipped from May into June. Those of us not dependent on cooler or wetter weather for their livelihood, can hardly complain when mild summer temperatures have lingered so long!

On this topic, we bring you a little light winter reading this month with our June Technology Bulletin including:
  • EECA Awards winner for 2016, Ceres Organics - and info on our involvement in this project;
  • Circadian rhythms - and lighting control;
  • An introduction to our brand new range of TV Shield PRO and PRO Lite enclosures, protecting televisions and digital displays up to 80" screen size in the most wintry of conditions;
  • A featured project that was definitely not your average DALI lighting controls! Read more about the new SAS battle training facility below and click on the image to view the video.
Our 'final funny' this month illustrates the need to step back and look at the bigger picture when considering a lighting project!!!

Kind regards

EECA Awards 2016

The Smart Energy Solutions Small to Medium Energy User Award recognises a business that has completed a successful energy efficiency or renewable energy initiative as part of a wider energy management strategy. This year's winner was Ceres Organics.  Read more  Our company worked closely with the electrical engineer, the lighting supplier and the electrical contractor to provide the lighting controls for this project which contribute to the $40,000 p.a. in energy saving for this forward thinking company. More info on this and other energy saving projects we've undertaken.

Circadian Rhythms!

In a recent DALI lighting project we were asked to programme the controls to work in with the 'circadian rhythm' of the occupants of the home.
So what the heck did they want?
Most of us are aware that it's got something to do with day and night and with peoples sleeping patterns but beyond and we're out of our depth! This is an area of concern for some customers however so we needed to know more.
The recent Lux Review has a great 'two-minute explainer' on this topic.
We found it a worthwhile read so thought we'd share in this Bulletin.

   Featured Product

NEW TV SHIELD PROFESSIONAL SERIES
The brand new TVSPRO enclosures protect TV screens and digital displays up to 80" - a market first! These sleek 'picture frame' designed enclosures are made from powder coated aluminium. The TV Shield PRO is designed for use outdoors, whilst the TV Shield PROLite is for indoor use.
For the budget conscious customer we still have our ever popular TV Shield and Display Shield enclosures made from HMWP.

Featured Project

NZDF Training Centre

This project was very hush hush! However as it has now been featured in various news clips we guess we're ok to mention that our company provided and commissioned the DALI lighting controls for this project as well as relay controls for the doors.
The new $46m SAS training facility will also be used by other agencies including fire and police.
We always ensure health & safety requirements are fully met, but this project took things to a whole new level as defence services trained alongside our technicians with practise firing exercises going on around!
The official opening concluded with a bang, as the SAS created an explosion whilst some of their team arrived by helicopter before abseiling down the outside of the new building.  See video below by clicking on image, or read more here.

Final Funny

When designing a lighting control system one of the first things we need to know is what type of lights need to be controlled.

Are they DALI or DSI?

Are they analogue 1-10V?

Do they require switching (on/off) or dimming?

It is important that consideration is given to the light fittings you wish to use!!!
