Porcupine is considered a big rodent at Jordan; its body is covered with very sharp spines that used to save themselves from carnivores; it lives in arid and semiarid areas. The porcupine is considered the second biggest rodent in the world after hydrochoerus species. Its length reaches (64 - 91) cm, tail length reaches (20 - 25) cm, and its weight is (5.4 -15.9) kg. Generally speaking, the porcupines are herbivorous species. They prefer roots and leaves; therefore, it is considered a nocturnal species.

Urginea maritima grows in the Western Mediterranean, the Levant, and some parts of Africa region. Its bulbs looks like the bulbs of onions, even bigger. Its leaves are unpalatable to livestock while in the green form, and they become addable for livestock when dry. It is useful to treat some medical issues, as it helps the heart muscles and prevent vomiting. Porcupine animals like this plant and eat its bulbs.

Wild Recon Film Screening (2,000 JOD)
Wild Recon is one of the wildest shows broadcast on Animal Planet. It follows the adventures of animal explorer Donald Schultz, who is taken on dangerous missions that could yield life-changing scientific discoveries. The RSCN hosted the Wild Recon group in Jordan and facilitated the filming of Jordan’s wildlife, specifically its animals. In order to share this unique experience with the public, nature and wildlife lovers in particular, the RSCN aims at screening this film in a public theater, followed by a discussion with our researchers to give an exciting “behind the scenes†account of the filming.
