Join the Dance

Astrology for the week of May 30th

Hi <<First Name>>!

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance".
~Alan Watts

There's a New Moon at 11:01 PM on Saturday (all times EDT), which means this week offers us a vantage point from which we can discern and release what is no longer needed during the waning Moon, and realign with our personal goals and intentions at the New Moon. As always, these subtle shifts in the matrix of energy that envelops us do not demand that we do anything, but offer opportunities for those who pay attention and will do the work required for change and growth.

The chart of the New Moon sets the stage for the month ahead, and I’ll put up a blog post about it later this week. The short version is that this month, we'll be focused on flexibility (mental, emotional and/or physical) and managing change.

There is one other astrological placement to consider right now. Think back to January and February. Where in your life were you grappling with intensity, with unconscious motivations and deep psychological issues? Mars’ return to Scorpio last week is likely to highlight and test some of those same issues yet again over the next two months.

You may find yourself faced with forceful removal of certain things from your life, probably things you need to release, but have been clinging to like a child to an old, well-worn stuffed animal. It’s time to explore and evaluate unconscious drives and desires, see if they are in line with conscious goals and beliefs, and make adjustments when we find unexamined, unwarranted fears driving our thoughts and behavior.

If you are honest with yourself about your own thoughts, feelings, and behavior and if you will drum up the courage to change, these next few months offer opportunities that allow you to create significant transformations in the areas of your life affected by this transit. (And if you want to learn more about what those areas are, reply to this email, and I’ll send you more information about a consultation with me.)

Now let’s take a look at the week ahead:

Monday, take the time to dig deep for the solutions to pressing problems, and don’t ignore new information that may appear suddenly and change the game. You, or someone else involved, may resist the information simply because it requires some hard work to integrate the changes. Do the work, and you'll reap the rewards.

You might want to do
all the things that are recommended for sound sleep tonight as Moon strides into Aries at 9:10 pm. It will feel more like a wakeup call than a lullaby, hence the need to invite sleep.

Tuesday’s a good day for networking, socializing, and exchanging information. You may want to speak up and spread the word about something, or gather the information you need for your newest project. Or both. If you can be congenial as well as forthright today, you’ll sail through the day.

Wednesday is likely to bring surprises and sudden changes. Don’t underestimate how far any information you share may travel, and be alert for misunderstandings. The evening is particularly good for some kind of spiritual reboot. Ritual, meditation — or maybe just a long, hot bath. Give yourself the time and space to reconnect with Nature and Spirit. Moon moves into Taurus 10:48 pm — if you’re still awake, do some grounding and centering exercises, focusing on restoring your strength before you head off to bed.

Thursday, show compassion in practical ways, and keep in mind this quote from the Dalai Lama: “I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the ultimate source of success in life.” The key word there is "cultivating". What are you doing to actively cultivate compassion?

Friday, watch for martyr-like behavior and problems with authority. If these aren’t traps you’re likely to fall into, see if you can help guide others away from self-inflicted suffering. Sometimes, a reminder that there are choices can make all the difference. Moon moves into Gemini at 11:03 pm, and issues of communications, transportation and information are highlighted for the next 2 ½ days.

Saturday, the planets are moving into place for tonight’s New Moon, and people are likely to be more sociable than is usual on a Dark Moon. It’s all about change and exchange today. Stay flexible, try really hard not to be condescending, and don’t put up with anyone who is condescending to you. Change is unavoidable, and besides, it keeps us from getting bored. But it needs to be directed by values based in spiritual awareness and an appreciation of life’s joy and creativity. You can gain some insight into what really matters to you today, and make some choices about the direction of change in your life.

Sunday, keep it as light and funday as you can. Chilling with friends would be ideal — if that’s not possible, try to infuse some fun and laughter into whatever you end up doing.

I hope your week brings welcome changes and music to dance by!
