NEWS AND STORIES FOR THIS MONTH
Tuija Hirvikoski awarded with Innovation Luminary Award on behalf of Living Lab community
Dr. Tuija Hirvikoski, ENoLL President and Director at Laurea University of Applied Sciences, was awarded last week with the Innovation Luminary Award for Open Innovation Infrastructure Creation on behalf of the Living Lab community. The 2016 Innovation Luminary Awards took place in Amsterdam where six world-shaping innovators and organisations were awarded for their achievements. Recipient Luminaries have been designated by the Open Innovation 2.0 Conference Steering committee for their extraordinary achievements and their potential to inspire the next generation of innovators worldwide. New 10th Wave ENoLL members welcomed under EU Dutch Presidency
On the 23rd of May in Amsterdam the ENoLL General Assembly approved and welcomed 18 new Living Labs from 13 different countries to the ENoLL community as a part of the 10th Wave. The new members were welcomed and announced at the Open Innovation 2.0 Conference and under the auspices of the Dutch EU Presidency. Among the new 18 Living Labs we're pleased to welcome our first member from Nigeria and also the first cross border lab from the Basque Country representing both French and Spanish partners. Welcome to new associated member: Living Labs in Wallonia, Belgium
We are pleased to announce Living Labs in Wallonia (Belgium) as a new associated member of ENoLL. Living labs in Wallonia is an initiative of Creative Wallonia which brings together and supports Living Labs in Wallonia. As part of Creative Wallonia, the Walloon Government has entrusted the CETIC with the task of coordinating the deployment of pilot Walloon Living Labs. With three Living Labs currently in the cluster we look forward to collaborating together with Living Labs in Wallonia to further their development in the region.
Tuija Hirvikoski nominated as member of the Open Science Policy Platform
We are pleased to announce that Tuija Hirvikoski, ENoLL President has been nominated as a member of the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP) contributing to the development of a European Open Science Policy Agenda. Announced on the 27th of May by Commissioner Moedas during the Competitiveness Council, the group consists of 25 high-level representatives of the broad constituency of European (open) science stakeholders. Hirvikoski will be representing ENoLL on the OSPP in the category Research Organisations. Read more here.

OpenLivingLab Days 2016, 23-26 August in Montreal
OpenLivingLab Days 2016 takes place from the 23rd to the 26th of August in Montreal, Canada and is hosted by Canadian Living Lab Communautique and Concordia University. The call for workshops closed with a record number of submissions and we're working hard preparing an inspiring agenda for you. ENoLL 10th Anniversary Celebrations in Amsterdam during the Oi2 Conference
Last week ENoLL kicked off celebrations for its 10th anniversary during the Open Innovation 2.0 Conference with a celebratory cocktail which also coincided with the announcement of the new 10th Wave members of ENoLL. We were thrilled to celebrate as a part of the conference surrounded by our community and those who have been supporting ENoLL over the years. Check the photos from the celebration on Flickr.
ENoLL and Living Labs at CoR Forum on the EU-Urban Agenda

ENoLL was invited to participate in the Committee of the Regions Forum on the EU-Urban Agenda. Tuija Hirvikoski, ENoLL president, spoke during the workshop on Smart and Innovative Cities about how to put citizens into the driver seat of innovation and how a network of Living Labs can speed up the market and job creation, as a network of city ecosystems. The session was also joined by Mr. Bas Verkerk (Mayor of Delft) and Martin Brynskov  (Chair Open & Agile Smart Cities), commented by Mr Lambert van Nistelrooij, Member of the European Parliament, and closed by Mr Raffaele Cattaneo, President of the Lombardia Regional Council. Cities and Regions were called to become Living Labs in a session where quadruple helix implementation, Smart Specialisation strategies, engagement with the innovation bottom-up movement, territorial cohesion, inclusive governance and openness to scale ideas from a city to city, were main discussion topics.
The ENoLL team manned a booth in the lively exhibition area in collaboration with Open and Agile Smart Cities, presenting network activities and recent materials to more than 100 interested participants.

 
Design for Europe: an invite to innovate
During recent activities run at Open Innovation 2.0 and CoR Forum on the Urban Agenda the initiative Design for Europe was intensively presented to participants. The ENoLL team introduced attendees to the Design for Europe platform, a repository bringing together the best tools, techniques and success stories of design-led innovation in 3 fields: public sector, policy and business. Living Labs workshop at the ISPIM Innovation Conference: 19-22 June 2016
Join us in Porto this June at the ISPIM Innovation Conference for a great Living Labs workshop on "Positioning Living Labs in the Innovation Domain" with both academic orientated inputs and practical insights coming from the ENoLL President and Director and leading researchers at IMinds Living Labs and Laurea University of Applied Sciences. GameJams - teaching mathematics via games in Spain, Tunisia and Canada this spring.
During the spring several ENoLL members across the world have been organising Game Jams in the context of the JamToday project. Using the game jam toolkit ENoLL members engaged with the world of Applied Game Jams and took up the challenge to teach mathematics via gamification! Over the weekend of the 27th to the 29th of May JamToday Almería took place in Spain hosted by Guadalinfo. Girls Learning About Maths (GLAM) Games takes place in Ottawa, Canada hosted by 1125@Carlton and another is currently planned in Tunisia hosted by DigiArt Living Lab Tunis-Nabeul. We strongly support these initiatives and our members' willingness to be knowledgeable about this emerging topic.

SELECT for Cities Open Consultation on the Internet-of-Everything
SELECT for Cities is an initiative that’s changing the way cities innovate in Europe through the creation of city wide Internet-of-Everything (IoE) testing labs. The project just hosted a successful inaugural open consultation meeting in Antwerp where the procuring cities met potential suppliers presenting the challenge of designing, creating and developing cities as linked, large scale Internet of Everything (IoE) Labs. If you are interested in taking part in the SELECT for Cities tender or supplier workshops, but you missed the one from Antwerp, you can join the consortium in Helsinki on May 30th or in Copenhagen on June 6th. Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE) 2016, June 8-10 2016, Eindhoven
The Brainport Eindhoven Region hosts the European Commission's Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE) 2016 and serves as a prime event under the flag of the Dutch EU Presidency. WIRE 2016 will increase awareness about the importance and urgent need to build regional innovation ecosystems in order to create impact, upscale and aim for global competitiveness. Policy makers, national and regional authorities, knowledge institutions and enterprises from all over Europe will gather in Eindhoven to discuss research and innovation practices and challenges throughout the European region with a specific focus on open innovation practices. Internet of Things Event, June 7-8 2016, Eindhoven
On June 7-8, 2016, the 5th edition of the Internet of Things Event will take place at High Tech Campus Eindhoven in The Netherlands. This 2-day event will focus on this rapidly developing market, new technologies and how other businesses apply new opportunities brought by IoT. This edition's big topics include big data applications for IoT, design of IoT, security and new business models & strategies, a paradigm shift. Read more here.
 
Workshop on Innovation & Ideation for Internet of Things success, 7 June 2016, Eindhoven
On June 7th, Business Innovation by Design will deliver a workshop on “Innovation & Ideation for Internet of Things success” at the Internet of Things Event 2016. The IoT event takes place on June 7th & 8th at High Tech Campus Eindhoven (Netherlands). As a participant you will be part of small teams of 2-3 people and work through a series of short hands-on innovation challenges. At the end you will walk away with a stronger understanding of how to develop innovation with a user-centred approach. More information can be found here.
EU Health Week, 8-10 of June 2016, Amsterdam
eHealth Week 2016 is organised by the Dutch Ministry of Health as part of the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and HIMSS Europe. This year’s educational programme will focus on three main themes: Empowering People, Trust & Standards and Social Innovation & Transition. The conference will also highlight how eHealth policies are changing and how focus is shifting towards the eHealth users. Discover more information here.

The second European Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing will take place on the 5th and 6th of December 2016 in Brussels on the theme of Transforming the future of health and care in Europe. Save the date for this event and check the EIP AHA website for more information.
