Pitchin Cleanup
On May 14, 20 neighbours gathered in the park to clean-up garbage at GPCL's 7th annual Pitch-in Cleanup event.  Thank you to everyone who helped make our community a cleaner place to live!

Clean Air Project
Between May 3 and 12 canvassers went door to door in our neighbourhood as part of a household air pollution awareness project entitled "Help Clean Air Please." An informal survey of those who were home discovered that at least one home per half block reported respiratory health problems or concerns to do with one or more of these three matters:
  1. Neighbourhood wood smoke
  2. Fragranced dryer vent emissions
  3. Pesticides spread on lawns by weed companies
These three household pollutants have something in common: they are disseminated into the air, spread to other properties, get inside others' homes, and cannot be contained on the property where they where they originate. For those individuals in our community with chemical sensitivities and health concerns this is an issue.

If you would like copies of their flyers including one on chemical fragrance free laundry products, please visit this site:

COMMUNITY BOARD

Did you know?

Small changes to the products you use in your home can have a big benefit on your pocket book, heath and the environment in which we live.
Vinegar is an excellent replacement for your jet dry and fabric softener.

Lawn Watering
Let's team up neighbours and go for gold! Allow your lawn to “go golden” during warm and dry weather periods. Once the rain comes, your lawn will be lush and green again.  Together we can help conserve water to reduce demand on limited water resources.

Hosting Events in
Gilmore Park

If you are planning a birthday party, sport team gathering, family reunion, etc. and would like to use Gilmore Park, you should know that Strathcona County does not take bookings for the gazebo area.  You are welcome to come in advance and leave signs indicating the date and time of your event to reserve the tables.  For large events field space can be booked by completing this application.

Neighbourhood Exchange!
If you need to borrow a wheel barrow, furniture dolly, ladder, etc. or need help mending pants or to fix a faucet, post your request to the Gilmore Park Facebook page or email gilmorepark@live.com with your specific need for an item or skill.  We can not guarantee that someone can help but we can facilitate the sharing/exchange by spreading the word! #NeighbourPower

If you would like GPCL to send a note to a neighbour for any reason: new to the neighbourhood, new baby, experienced a loss in the family, etc.  please email us at gilmorepark@live.com
