ROOMS FOR HIRE have officially opened at Womenspace this month! There are many people to thank for their generosity in providing furniture, plants, books and kitchenware. Womenspace is truly grateful.

Please assist us in sharing the knowledge these rooms are available, with each proposal considered on an individual basis. Whether you want to hire a room for a month (or more), one day a week, or only a few hours at a time, our Coordinator is welcoming women to discuss the light-filled space at Womenspace for business purposes.

The brisk Winter temperatures mean our Gardening Group will meet from 9am on the first Friday of this month. As always in Queensland, the chill appears almost out of nowhere and takes hold. It's during these months that we seek the warmth of midday sunshine, thick woollen socks and to thaw out with a hot cuppa. Be one of the many that join us this month at Cuppa & Chat and meet with friends, known and new.

Cooler weather makes Womenspace gatherings ever cosier, especially with all the new and many faces joining our regular events. Discover Australian Bush Flower Essences with Annie Meredith at Wise Women's Circle early this month, and discuss spirituality with Grandmother's Rayleen Burns and Wendy Williamson at Soul & Spirit, on the third Tuesday of July.

‘Soul & Spirit’ is a traditional gathering, held each month at Womenspace in Sandgate, where women discuss spirituality. Women are invited to attend and participate in the conversation of a different topic each month, sharing their experiences, asking questions and learning from others.

This month we ask, what are we if the I and the You come together? “We are separate yet together, but nothing unless true to oneself and one’s journey. You and I together can create and be part of manifesting greatness with and in all we do and all we believe in the name of love and peace,” Grandmother Wendy.
 
Australia’s Counsel of Thirteen Grandmothers are the ‘Keepers of Wisdom’, representing and embracing the diversity of cultures within Australia, willingly sharing their knowledge and wisdom with all. “Our vision is to create pathways that preserve, honour and respect the many cultures, languages, medicines, ceremonies and traditions, which will further enhance the education of our children for the generations to come.” Womenspace is blessed to have the entire Counsel meet here later this year.
 
Respected elder and Grandmother, Wendy describes her passion: “As we teach about our own life, bringing the old ways into the new, so we teach others about life and culture and themselves. To help the world be a better place for future generations.”
 
Grandmother Rayleen continues her work, though retired, to address social and emotional wellbeing, specialising in the welfare and health of communities throughout Australia. Rayleen’s work has taken her to obscure and remote pockets of the world, including many indigenous, ‘Healing Our Spirit Worldwide’ gatherings. Described as a quiet achiever, Grandmother Rayleen advises to, “Trust in spirit to allow you to be in the right place at the right time”.
 
“Women are the power. You give women the right space and they will blossom. Find the element that connects within you,” Grandmother Wendy.

All work that continues at Womenspace's property in Sandgate is possible thanks to the generous nature of our supporters, who contribute to the Building Fund. The work Womenspace has completed in recent years thanks to the generosity of many, increases the ability for women to work and to connect in this beautiful space - true empowerment.

Quotes to complete the workshop space downstairs at ground level at Womenspace include disabled toilets and a kitchenette, totalling in excess of $13,000. We have some, but not enough, so we ask you to consider how Womenspace can best raise over $9,000 towards the Building Fund?

Empowering women of any age is to bring health into a community. Support can change the very core of what we think of ourselves, of one another, the choices we make and understanding we are not alone in what we experience. When women collaborate, we are energised which ripples out exponentially in shaping connections within our communities.
 
Women are stronger, filled with more optimism, braver and more hopeful when together.

Womenspace is seeking assistance in grant writing, financial donations and for all of us to think outside the box. Womenspace seek a proven successful fundraising initiative and the women who can make it work.

AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST MORNING TEA 

In June, Womenspace again supported the 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea' initiative, for the Cancer Council Australia. Much thanks to all of the women who volunteered, attended, baked, donated, spoke and shared - together.

Management Committee member, Kay Franks shared her experience with 'Living the New Normal' and inspired us all to live better lives and to better understand the difference between sympathy and empathy. Kay wishes to share 'Surviving After Cancer: Living the New Normal', by Anne Katz, as mentioned during her talk.
