Case Studies of Fire in Prairies, Oak Savannas, and Woodlands - Group Lodging Rates Expire June 1
June 14-15: Join us for one or both days in the field discussing fire effects on prairies, oak savannas, and oak woodlands across the dissected till plain region of southern Iowa and northern Missouri.
We will visit sites that are in various stages of restoration, and compare effects from unmanaged sites, sites that have been thinned and burned once or twice, and sites that have been burned repeatedly.
Field presentations and discussions led by local land managers, biologists, and ecologists, as well as researchers, have been tailored to address common questions about fire and oak-dominated systems:
- understory indicators of sites with high potential for restoration
- fire regime - comparing historic fire regime to restoration treatments
- oak regeneration
- wildlife - impacts on game and non-game species
- managing invasive species
Registration is free, but space is limited.
