Dear Colleagues,
After two-plus years of a major community effort, the Legislature and the Governor made an agreement that will put the community service system for people with developmental disabilities back on track towards realizing the dream and the promise of the Lanterman Act.
On July 1, 2016, the State plans to put in place new rates and programs that will result in about $500 million in new, ongoing money for the community system. After countless hours of negotiations the State agreed to provide this money, and do so in a timely fashion. To help make this happen, we agreed to support a sampling method the State developed to give them a high-confidence estimate of the rate increases that would match the agreed-upon budget numbers. We're sending this message because the sampling process has only yielded about half of what we needed from the provider community.
If you know a provider who received a survey but didn't respond, please ask them to complete the survey (if it's you, please do it ASAP). We need these responses to help ensure special session funds get into the community.
Looking forward to our continued work together to #KeepThePromise to all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Sincerely,
Tony Anderson
