JUNE 2016

It's hard to believe, but it is time again for the Summer Reading Program! Registration begins on June 13th. This summer will feature movies, Stories in the Garden, Art in the Park, games, rainy day projects and more. Check books out from Rita the Bookmobile at the Day of Play at Veteran's Memorial Park.  Explore Vermont's libraries with the Vermont Library Association's "Passport to Vermont Libraries". Thanks to an anonymous donor, we now offer a pass to the Shelburne Museum in addition to our passes to State parks, historical sites and other museums. All passes can be reserved by phone or in person for a one-day loan period. Tech4Tomorrow returns with a series of summer tech workshops, book discussions are ongoing and Vermont pottery is featured in a Brown Bag Lunch.

Please take a moment to respond to the City's short survey about their website. The Library and the City are working together on developing a new web site.

We open at 10:00 on June 16th to allow for our monthly staff meeting.

Jennifer

This summer from June 1st to September 1st, over one hundred Vermont public and academic libraries will be handing out passports in the 2nd annual Passport to Vermont Libraries program, encouraging patrons to visit some of Vermont's unique, beautiful and creative libraries. Local libraries will offer passport stamps and small prizes. Three patrons statewide (adult, young adult, child) will receive Vermont Library Ambassador awards for visiting the most libraries. New this year is a special award for the librarian who visits the most Vermont libraries. Visitors are encouraged to post pictures and stories on the VLA Facebook page.
Kids won't be the only ones to play in the Library this summer! Enjoy the puzzle table starting in mid-June or ask for a chess or checkers board at the desk.
