Tech Tip

To eject or not eject?

That is the question when you need to remove a temporary drive from your computer. Sometimes it can be harmful to your data to yank a drive out of a computer without first "ejecting" it from within the operating system.

Here's a general rule of thumb: tiny should be ejected, bigger doesn't need to be.

Flash/thumb drives should be ejected when you need to remove them, but larger hard drives usually don't need to be. It can't hurt to eject all drives, and if it doesn't need to be ejected you might not even have the option.
