Congratulations to the Wolho Korean Brush Painting and Calligraphy institute on an incredible exhibition! 
This month, we're looking forward to more Cultural Hotspot activations including a screening from the Canadian Film Centre's Onscreen Acting Bootcamp, as well as the opening night screenings of the Toronto Korean Film Festival. 

We're also thrilled to be working with Luminato Festival for their Trove exhibition; be sure to check out this amazing installation happening at the Toronto Centre for the Arts and around Toronto.

Beyond that, we have other amazing community partnered events, as well as several artist and volunteer opportunities.

Canadian Film Centre Onscreen Acting Bootcamp 
Screening of the participants' produced work 
June 1, 2016
After an incredible run of The Onscreen Acting Bootcamp, it’s time to enjoy the participants’ produced work! As a signature project of the Cultural Hotspot in partnership with the City of Toronto, the Bootcamp offered aspiring actors, age 15-19, the opportunity to learn new skills through a peer mentorship experience. It’ll be a fantastic film-filled night!

Cultural Hotspot shines a light on arts, culture and the community in North York, inspiring new ideas about where culture thrives in Toronto.

STOMP Dance Competition 
Ephriam's Place Elite Dance Crew to compete

June 5, 2016
 Join us in supporting Ephraim’s Place Elite Dance Crew at the STOMP dance competition! This talent group of dancers will be part of hundreds of talented youth who will take the stage with creative performances that incorporate various styles of urban dance, such as step, b-boy, break, hip hop, dancehall, jazz and contemporary.

Toronto Korean Film Festival: 무늬: LIFE IMPRINTED

We're excited to have partnered with the Toronto Korean Film Festival (TKFF)! TKFF’s mission has always been to mark itself in the advancement of diversity through its annual showcases of authentic Korean cinema. The pattern continues with this year's presentations of several feature-length films, a newest set of unique imprints on the artistic and cultural landscape of Canada.

TKFF On Stage is a SPARK project of the Cultural Hotspot in partnership with the City of Toronto.

Luminato 10th Anniversary Installation
Trove: A View of Toronto in 50 of Its Treasures 

June 10 - 26, 2016
Using the city of Toronto as one gigantic art gallery, Luminato created an exhibition of 50 of the most important objects and works of art in Toronto. The exhibition is in the open, for everyone to see, and for everyone to be proud of. Trove: A View of Toronto in 50 of its Treasures is a 10th anniversary Luminato project that celebrates what makes this city special. 

From June 10th – 26th, check out three of these hidden treasures at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, or check out the full exhibition on display at the Hearn Generating Station.

Downsview Memorial Parkette 10 Year Anniversary

The community is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Downsview Memorial Parkette. This award-winning park is a community hub, a memorial space for Downsview's fallen World War II soldiers, and a commemoration space for Downsview's Aerospace heritage.

Earl Bales Arts and Music Festival
Celebrating the arts and culture of North York and Toronto

The Earl Bales Park Arts and Music Festival is an annual free, one day event celebrating the arts and culture of North York and Toronto. Taking place in Earl Bales Park, the festival features performances by a variety of musicians across a number of genres, displays by Toronto artists, activities for children and food booths from local restaurants.

Creative Foundations Youth Art Program is Looking for 2 Volunteer Mentors for the month of July!

Are you interested in the arts? Would you like to be a mentor to a young artist? Are you between the ages 16 & 19? We are looking for you!  

Where: Fairview Library
When: July 2016, one night per week (Thursdays)

Job Description
The Volunteer Youth Mentor will volunteer with Dreamation and be trained to lead the Creative Foundations Youth Art Program with one adult lead. They will be expected to engage and mentor the participants as well as assist, inspire and motivate the youth. They will also develop a piece of artwork for the collection. 

Program Description
Creative Foundations Youth Art Program is a free program of Dreamation.ca. This year’s program at Fairview Library is four week program (one night/week) open to youth ages 12 – 16. Youth will create artwork that represents their thoughts and ideas on community youth engagement. They will choose from a variety of media on canvas to create a final piece of art which will be showcased in a Creative Foundations Youth Art Show.

Inspirit Foundation is now accepting applications for our ChangeUp Grants. The deadline to apply is June 16, 2016.

ChangeUp grants aim to create opportunities for young people aged 18 to 34 to explore creative solutions that actively address issues of discrimination and prejudice in their communities. Successful applicants will receive $10,000 towards project costs.
