System 1 Evolution for Power Generation - Station wide condition monitoring on a single platform

“Plant wide monitoring” is now a reality with System 1 Evolution connecting to so many assets, from process critical down to lower risk balance of plant assets. We are now pleased to reach out to our Electricity Generating clients with the news that System 1™ for Power Generation has been repackaged under the new ‘Evolution‘ platform, giving you even more than it did before. Let NVMS show you how System 1 Evolution for Power Generation can improve your station's reliability and availability, while reducing unnecessary maintenance.

System 1™ Evolution offers some key features which simply cannot be offered by any other system, as well as employing cutting edge technologies born from GE’s “Billion Dollar Investment in the Industrial Internet”. Some of these key features include:

  1. Only System 1™ can natively interface to the Bently Nevada 3500, 3701 Adapt and TDI Secure Protection and Vibration Monitoring platforms
  2. OPC connectivity allows historian process data to also be displayed in System 1™ and can used for performance calculations and alarming. This helps easily identify changes in machine characteristics with changes in demand and process
  3. Walk-around data is also available in this single platform via SCOUT and Commtest VB Data Collectors
  4. Native connectivity to other GE technology platforms such as Smart Signal™ and Meridium™; providing your predictive maintenance strategies with an impartial, data driven set of recommendations
  5. Only GE can boast such a broad release of new technologies, all focused on asset health monitoring

This new release of System 1 Evolution provides a simple, transparent and easy to manage pricing model simply based on the power generating capacity of your facility. Please contact us today and arrange a visit or online demonstration of new technologies for Power Station operators.

Technical Note - Monitoring Ball Mills with Commtest

The predominant failure modes for Ball Mills are fairly well understood. Knowing these failure modes and the failure mechanism dictates the technologies to be used to detect failures early and reduce the risk to production and increased maintenance cost.

With Ball and Sag Mills being critical to your plant’s production, NVMS has put together a Technical Note which discusses how we can help you improve the reliability of these critical Assets. Bently Nevada and Commtest vibration monitoring technology is utilised to detect failures early and reduce the risk to production and increased maintenance costs.

VbOnlinePro for Essential Assets

Regularly we see customers looking for ways to improve their monitoring capabilities on their Essential and Balance of Plant Assets. Traditionally we see stand alone protection systems such as the GE 1900/65A feeding a 4-20mA signal back to a DCS, with Engineers connecting Portable Data Collectors to the 1900/65A to collect the dynamic data for analysis. These units are often used to protect essential assets such as Fans, Blowers & Pumps from catastrophic failure.

The demand for greater availability and clarity on the health of assets has become a must for many industries and understanding your assets better allows companies to better plan their maintenance schedules and shutdowns, this allows savings to be obtained while improving availability of their assets.

The release of the new GE Bently Nevada VbOnline Pro allows customers to monitor up to 12 points simultaneously from a single unit, offering an economical vibration monitoring solution. The VbOnline Pro is capable of connecting to existing probes and/or hardware to utilise the dynamic data available, allowing you to expand while utilizing the equipment you have.

Designed to connect to S1-Evolution the new platform allows for a flexible and scalable solution to expand you plant wide monitoring capabilities.

Offering a quick and simple installation process it allows for rapid field deployment enabling you to start monitoring your units through S1-Evo straight away. This unit allows for greater time to be spent analysing the data and planning more efficient and cost effective shutdowns then spending hours collecting data.

Brüel & Kjær and HBM Product Roadshow Review

Over the last month NVMS visited many local universities and businesses to provide a first hand look at some of the Brüel & Kjær Noise and Vibration and HBM Test and Measurement products that we can provide. This proved to be very successful, with many people who otherwise would not be able to see the latest and greatest products, able to touch and play with them as well as witness live demonstrations.

A very big thankyou to Melinda Hodkiewicz from UWA, Ian Howard from Curtin and Steven Hinckley from ECU for helping organise each event.

If you would like to find out more about the latest and greatest products available to assist you in your everyday work, please contact Nick Trappitt.
