Dear Parents,

Firstly a big thank you to the parents, committee and staff who helped man the refreshment stall at the May Fayre. It was a real shame about the weather but all the children enjoyed the event.  We received £192 which was our share of the profits, this money will go into our fundraising account to buy items from our "Wish List".

Parking
Please can we remind parents who use the front car park, to leave promptly after dropping off your child in cottage, this allows other parents and staff to park safely when they arrive, avoiding parking on the road. If you have older children attending the school, please use the car park around the back of school.

Tapestry
Thank you to all the parents who returned the questionnaire, we will be sending out an overview which we hope will answer any questions raised.  Arrangements will be made after half term for anyone who wished to speak about their child's progress.

Children's learning
The butterflies have been released and the frogs have been given a home in Carol's pond. The children have been learning about the Fire Services and Dinosaurs.
We are also talking to the older children about going to school, dressing up and looking at photo's of their new classes and schools. This and attending Acorn Club will help ready them for school. You may notice a slight change in your child's behaviour during this transition time, this is very normal and they just need extra reassurance from parents and staff.
After half term the children will be learning about animals with the "Dear Zoo" book. Plus the beach, sun safety and sports.  If you have any shells, pebbles or fir cones for our sorting activities please bring them into cottage.

September bookings
Forms have been sent out to parents for children attending Cottage in September, this will cover breakfast club, all nursery sessions and after school club. This form supersedes any sessions your child may be attending now and is on a first come first serve basis. Please return as soon as possible as sessions are booking up fast.
A booking form will be given out at Acorn club which covers the first 2 weeks in September for the Reception class, this covers the afternoons while the children are on half days.

Fundraising
We will be sending out Smartie tube after the half term as a fundraiser. All money collected will go to purchase items on our "Wish List".

Invoicing
May's invoices will be emailed to you next week, your paper copy will be sent out when we return to school after half term. Payment is due by the 14th of June.

Reminders

  • Telephone numbers: Please make sure all emergency and contact details are up to date.
  • Late payment fee: Please ensure your invoice is paid by 14th of each month, failure to do so will result in a £10 late payment fee.
  • Illness: Please avoid bringing your child into the setting with any contagious illness i.e. Chicken Pox, conjunctivitis, sickness and diarrhoea or if your child is clearly not well. It is a Government recommendation that 48 hour elapses after suffering diarrhoea or sickness before returning to the setting to avoid the spread of germs.
  • Egg Allergy: Just a quick reminder that we do have a child with a severe allergy to eggs, this is both in raw form including touching the shell as well as cooked eggs or products containing eggs. Please do not send egg sandwiches or scotch eggs etc in your child’s lunch box. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
  • Nut Allergy: Please avoid sending any foods containing nuts or nut products in your child’s lunch box as nut allergies are becoming increasingly common and even the slightest contact with nut products can be dangerous to those children affected. Just to clarify chocolate spread also contain nuts.
  • Please make sure grapes and cherry tomatoes are cut in half this is to avoid choking, (grapes cut long ways).
  • Dropping off and Picking up: Please make every effort to be on time when dropping off and picking up your child. This keeps disruption to a minimum and avoids unsettling the new children.  We also need to keep our staffing levels to the correct adult/child ratio. Please note we need to be informed if anyone else is collecting your child other than the normal people for security reason.

Summer Weather

Stay safe in the summer!
Remember to apply suncream before dropping off at nursery and send your child in with a sun hat. Please make sure the hat and suncream is clearly marked with your child's name.
