Issue 27: 26 May 2016

Executive Principal
Dr Terry Creissen OBE

In talking to some parents earlier this month, I was explaining our “Be Ambitious” philosophy and why it is important in driving our work in school.  The process of allowing children to experiment and take risks in their learning is a fine balance.  We may like to play safe but we know that in order to move forwards, we must have some element of managed risk.  Full report here.

Secondary Music Monday Magic

This was one of our busiest and successful Music Monday’s to date, with secondary students performing music from many genres from Bach to Taylor Swift!  As well as solo guitar and piano performances, our year 9 students played and sang an arrangement of ‘Stand By Me’ by Ben E King.  They have been studying this as part of their popular music element of the curriculum.  Our secondary chamber choir sang a beautiful rendition of ‘Glorious’ by Stephanie Mabey,  one of the songs that was performed last year as part of the Global Orchestra and Choir with the Juilliard School in New York.

Congratulations to our performers: Maren Aljundi, Hashim Hassan, Titar Aung, Lana Al Khateeb, Ayana Bhanji, Jessica Butterworth, Caitlin Burkett, Judy Akid, Nithyashree Loganathan, Ubachi Nwosu, Sterre Van der Wal and Alessia Ragoni . . . photos here

School Uniform Update

School uniforms can be bought from two suppliers this year.
The first is Uniform Mart which will supply the 'old' Primary Uniform, this has the old Compass Logo on it. Students may continue to wear this uniform throughout the coming academic year.  They will also supply students with our Secondary Uniforms.  You can find their shop here and we will inform you of a date that they will be in school to sell uniforms.
Ascot Uniforms will be supplying the 'new' Primary Uniforms. There will be order forms and samples available mid June at each of the campuses and we will inform you of the date that they will be in school to supply uniforms.
