Children learn and grow a lot during the course of a school year. The difference between the child who enters DLS at two and the one who leaves at five can be enormous indeed. At DLS we hope that not only parents but also the children themselves will recognize the important changes that have taken place during their time here.
One especially delightful marker of maturity in the Yellow and Purple Rooms is the self-portrait. The Yellow Room children did their first self-portraits recently, and even these first attempts strongly reflect individual personalities.
  
In the Purple Room, the children have been making self-portraits once a month and, most recently, used collage materials to bring themselves alive on paper. Their portraits reflect not just who they are but also who they want to be. And anyone who looks at the change from a September self-portrait to now, will see one clear tracking of development over time.
