Emergency Evacuation Centre now ready at the Singleton Diggers

The Singleton Diggers Alroy Street premises will soon have the capacity to act as an emergency evacuation centre, since the installation of an emergency power generator due to be officially activated next week.

The $835,000 generator project was funded through the state government's Club Grants funding program and will enable the club to perform a vital service to the community in event of a disaster.

"If power supply is cut and homes are in danger, people will now be able to assemble at the Singleton Diggers premises at Singleton Heights and have access to food, shelter and basic amenities, " said Singleton Diggers General Manager Gerard McMillan.

NSW Deputy Premier, the Hon. Troy Grant will attend the Singleton Diggers next week for the official opening.

"Singleton Diggers welcome members of the community to join us at the official opening and help us celebrate this great milestone in significantly improving the community's disaster readiness," said Mr McMillan.

The official opening will take place at the Singleton Diggers, Alroy Street, Singleton Heights on Thursday 9th June 3.30pm followed by afternoon tea.
