Turkey Vulture - Cathartes Aura
A turkey vulture shows off its impressive wingspan, which can be up to 178cm (70 inches) wide.
Fairly common in our region, turkey vultures are scavengers that play an important 'clean-up' role in nature. You might spot them by the roadside eyeing roadkill, or soaring on the thermal wind currents of the Niagara Escarpment.
