UN Peacekeeper Day

29th May is UN Peacekeeper Day.  This should be a day to celebrate the great work that has been done by UN Peacekeepers to bring peace and security to some of the most vulnerable adults and children in the world.

However, a report released in December 2015 found that UN Peacekeepers in the Central African Republic (CAR) have sexually abused, raped and exploited at least 98 girls.

Samantha Asumadu from "Media Diversified"  created a campaign and petition in April 2016 to demand the UN act.  She is demanding that:
  • The recommendations from the report of December 2015 be put into practice.
  • The French government withdraw all its troops from the CAR and investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the horrific abuses of children.
  • Action to ensure victims receive proper care and support in rebuilding their future and prevent further abuse.
As we approach 29th May, please take a few minutes to sign the #predatorypeacekeepers petition and share it across your networks.  Those with a mandate to bring peace have been abusing and damaging vulnerable children.

Please act to bring change.
