New Call for Proposals for Canadian & Indian Researchers


IC-IMPACTS is excited to announce a new Call for Proposals that will launch on June 15, 2016.

The Research Synergy Collaboration Grant has been designed to enhance collaboration across IC-IMPACTS research projects and to stimulate novel partnerships. These new projects must be clearly distinctive from previously funded projects and must bring together innovations or approaches from at least two previously funded research projects, or, apply innovations from previous projects to a new application area in a different research theme.

Applicants must be members of current or previously funded IC-IMPACTS projects and can receive up to $100,000 in funding. All applications will be due September 5, 2016. Full details and a new application portal will be launching soon.

New Scholarship Opportunity for Graduate Students


IC-IMPACTS is proud to share a new scholarship for international students graduate students. The Pradeep Khare Memorial Scholarship was developed in memory of Pradeep Khare by his family. Formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Canada’s National Energy Board, Pradeep Khare served as an IC-IMPACTS board member and contributed greatly to the Centre and its partnership development.

International students from India studying at a Canadian institution can apply for a $2500 scholarship. The application will close on June 30, 2016.

Community Shares Positive Stories From New Road


Community members from Thondebavi shared some inspiring stories and outcomes with the Centre after the installation of new advanced pavements laid last fall. Ten families in the community purchased new cars to make use of the new pavement and five families renovated their existing home inspired by the new pavements outside their doors. Overall the 1000 residents of Thondebavi were deeply inspired as the new roads provided access to nearby cities and markets, significantly stimulating the local economy.

New Water Treatment System Finalist for National Award


A mobile water treatment system created from an IC-IMPACTS project led by Dr. Madjid Mohseni has been nominated as a finalist in the Drinking Water category of Water Next’s 2016 National Awards. The Water’s Next national awards program honours the achievements and ideas of individuals and companies that successfully work to change water in Canada. The 2016 awards will showcase forty-five finalists across nine different award categories. The award will be announced on Thursday, June 23, 2016.

IC-IMPACTS Hosts Public Lecture in Edmonton Tonight!


IC-IMPACTS will be hosting a free public lecture later tonight (Tuesday May 31, 2016) with Dr. Carlo Montemagno, Director of the Alberta Ingenuity Lab.  The event will run from 6pm to 8pm at the University of Alberta (CCIS Building, Room LI-140).  Dr. Montegmagno will be exploring how nanotechnologies are being used to create unique solutions to some of the world's most complex challenges.
