Good Evening HHSC Community

It was certainly a great Opening Day, and we hope everyone who was able, made it up to the Club to take advantage of the weather, and welcome in a new season at Heart of the Hills.  A couple of notes:

We hope that everyone who has had an opportunity to enjoy the new pavilion likes what they see.  A lot of work went into ensuring that we continue to have a great club, and we hope that you both take care of it and enjoy it.

Our new grass will continue to need a few days/weeks to germinate, so please keep to the concrete path and let nature work its magic.

Subsequent to welcoming a significant number of swimmers to the pool today, we noticed that the algae is still present on the walls, and the water is cloudier than desired. As such, the Board has elected to take the following actions:
  • Because both the Cl (chlorine) levels and Ph (acidity) levels of the pool are within normal range and there is no health risk, the pool will remain open for the Holiday weekend;
  • HHSC lifeguards will regularly monitor the Cl/Ph levels in pool;
  • We will maintain the chlorine at a slightly higher level than normal and the ph slightly lower than normal. This is to ensure that we don't experience additional algae growth during the next three days.  The cloudy water will gradually improve as we are able to have more run time with the pool filter.
  • The discoloration on the walls is something that we hope to be able to fix by closing the pool from Tuesday thru Thursday to perform additional maintenance.
  • Why additional maintenance?  When we started the pool this year, we had a series of issues - from a failed pool pump and motor starter to the broken tiles requiring repairs. This has led to the pool only having one week of actual run time since it was filled -vs- a normal summer start up where we would already have run the pool for three to four weeks. To perform this maintenance, we will close the pool from Tuesday thru Thursday.  We will re-shock the pool, run/back wash, and brush the walls (again) to see if we can eliminate the brown discoloration on the walls.
  • This closure will permit the water to cycle through the filter a significant number of times; and will permit this maintenance to occur early in season when the kids are in school and demand is minimal.
Although the pool will be closed, the rest of the club will be open.

The pool should be open for regular use by Friday. Should anyone have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will be happy to answer any questions.

We'll see you at the pool this weekend!
