PCUM’s "A Lot to Grow" Garden is planted and ready to grow this season thanks to lots of help from members of the church family and PCUM's Sunday School children!

All of the fresh veggies and herbs grown in PCUM’s garden are donated to The Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair to help hungry neighbors in need.

Maintenance for now will be fairly simple - once a week weeding and then some harvesting in two-three weeks. Any and all are welcome to participate. In general, the schedule is 10am-11am on Thursdays and one Saturday a month. Just drop by the garden and lend a hand whenever you can.

CAN YOU SERVE HUNGRY NEIGHBORS?
– Help make or/serve an evening meal to homeless neighbors right here in Montclair on Saturday, June 18.  PCUM is part of a coalition of faith and community organizations that make up Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH).  To sign up, contact Elizabeth Riggs at elizriggs@verizon.net or 917-324-0052.

SUMMER AT PCUM...

PCUM’s (air conditioned) SUMMER WORSHIP remains at 10:00 am on Sundays this summer.  Childcare is provided for infants through Pre-K in the Toddler room during worship services throughout the summer.

SUMMER EDUCATION - TEACHERS NEEDED!  Summer Sunday School begins June 26th!  PCUM’S program is for rising Kindergarteners — 3rd graders and is offered as a One-Room School format.  Kids will enjoy bible stories, games, crafts and a whole lot of fun.  Caring adult teachers are needed to guarantee a meaningful educational experience for your church’s youngest! If you don’t normally teach Sunday School and enjoy children, this is an easy and fun way to share your time and faith with your church family’s children. No experience necessary.  Bible lesson and all supplies are provided.  Please sign up in Fellowship Hall or email Mary Beckhusen at mary@pcum.org, or Pastor Lauren at lauren@pcum.org, for more details.

GOT MUSIC?  SUMMER MUSIC BEING PLANNED and— on Sunday morning’s this summer—PCUM’s Music Ministry needs YOU!  Singers, instrumentalists (soloists and ensembles) are needed for summer worship services.  If you would like to share your gifts for the glory of God by offering your talents one Sunday this summer, please contact Director Anne Marie Juliano at annemarie@pcum.org.

PLEASE SUPPORT PCUM THIS SUMMER!   Summer book study, summer Sunday School, youth mission trip to North Carolina, worship in air-conditioned splendor... As summer approaches please consider "catching up" or paying ahead on your 2016 pledge supporting Jesus Christ's work at PCUM. Your prayerful financial giving will keep your congregation and its ministries healthy and faithful all summer long as we serve together in Christ's name. Thank you!

PCUM to Create "Emergency Text System"

When a storm like 2012's Hurricane Sandy or other cataclysmic event hits, the loss of electrical power and travel challenges can bring communication to a standstill.  The Internet and landlines are useless.  Even the availability of gasoline is affected, limiting driving and further isolating people. The elderly and those hardest hit can find themselves in vulnerable situations with nowhere to turn.  Those wanting to help may not have a way to find those in need or communicate what they have to offer.

With this in mind, PCUM's leadership would like your help in establishing an "Emergency Text System" based on a confidential list of members' and friends' cell numbers. In times of crisis, even when computers and landlines are down, generally people are able to find power to charge their cell phones.  With your help, this list of cell phone numbers, administered by the Church Office and our pastors, will enable the church to reach out to the congregation and people in crisis, match needs with resources, and link members of the PCUM family with each other and with outside civic and community resources.

To help, at your earliest convenience please provide the Church Office pcum@pcum.org with a cell number for every adult in your household--or at least one cell phone number. This list will be kept confidential and not shared.

The Deacons meet on the second Sunday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the church parlor.

Non-Perishable Goods for Montclair’s Human Needs Food Pantry and gently used clothing are collected year-round.  Just drop your donations in the baskets in the Deacons Corner (off the narthex).

Worship Flowers:  You can dedicate fresh flowers to beautify the sanctuary chancel, remember or honor loved ones, and symbolize the new life God makes possible in Christ, by using the Flower Chart located in the Deacons Corner or by clicking on the online sign up button.
