Greetings,
What's your view on the positives and negatives of the amount of technology most of us rely on these days? I think about the amazing benefits to our world, from innovative and life saving medical devices to world-wide access to the internet and all that it has to offer. However, I also marvel (and cringe) at the dangers and downsides of technology.
One hot topic is how social media and smart phone usage is changing the way we all communicate, with people texting, tweeting and snapchatting their feelings instead of saying them out loud. My niece even made a "bitmoji" (see pic) the other day so now my chats and texts have an extra flair! While I personally agree that this has allowed communication to expand beyond belief, I professionally warn that there is a point where it goes too far and can reach addictive proportions.
Rice Psychology Group's latest blog discusses the warning signs of tech addiction and realistic ways to help besides going cold turkey tech free. You may want to review these warning signs for your loved ones as well as for yourself - I certainly need to keep my radar up and my social media and tech use in check! I encourage you to click below to read it.
One more thing before I sign off, I know some of you were able to make it to the Screenagers Movie screening last month, but for those who missed it we are going to host another Tampa show on Tuesday, September 20th. Please save the date and stay tuned for details.
Warmly,
