10 June 2016.
Dear <<First Name>>,
Hello and welcome, especially if you're new and I met you at Comic Gong and the Other Worlds Zine Fair recently!
Here's what has been happening:
Monsters has arrived!
Monsters is now back from the printer and it looks GORGEOUS! The colouring book and posters have also returned from the printer, so I've been busy shipping things to all the backers (with the help of a lovely friend: thank you Bec Jee!)
Oh, and making monster softies. Here are some photos of some of them (finished and in progress):
New online store in progress
However, as you may have noticed, Monsters is not in my online store yet. That's because of several reasons—the most important being that my wonderfully talented developer husband is making me a much better online store than the PayPal buttons I currently use. Stay tuned for more news on that …
Eternal Life (Part 4)
Another reason why my online store still remains in such a pitiful shape is because Paul Wong-Pan and I have been working hard to get the fourth installment of our science fiction graphic novel Eternal Life to the printers in time for Supanova Sydney.
We finished it last night. Here's the cover:
More on that soon! (And yes, that's not in my store yet either, but I will have it at upcoming events.)
Part 4 means that we have officially passed the halfway point in the story!
Free comics!
To celebrate the release of Eternal Life (Part 4), Paul and I are giving away Part 1 for free (in digital PDF). Download your copy here.
If you like it, please drop us a line! We'd love to hear from you.
The Banksia Project
Speaking of Supanova, I will be tabling there as the Banksia Project recipient for Sydney. This is a great honour!
For those who are unaware, the Banksia Project is an initiative of Alisha Jade of Petrie Press to encourage Australian female comic creators and help them hone their convention skills. Recipient receive:
- Personalised coaching;
- A guest table in the Supa-Star area, free of charge;
- Announcement of participation on Supanova's social media channels;
- Event program inclusion (I will be on a panel about comic anthologies sometime during that weekend); and
- A guest page on the Supanova website.
You can find me at Table 13 in The Alley next to Alisha and Queenie Chan.
Upcoming events
Here's where I'll be over the next couple of months:
- Museum of Contemporary Art Zine Fair (THIS SATURDAY! 11 June, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney)
- Supanova Sydney (17-19 June, The Dome, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush)
- Comic Con-versation (4-10 July, various locations). I'll be moderating a panel on comics and music on Sunday 10 July, plus Paul has some artwork from Eternal Life in the Comix Creatrix exhibition. More information about that soon.
- Bezerkacon (Saturday 30 July only; sorry, can't make the Sunday!) I am one of the judges of the comics competition and I'm running a workshop that day on generating ideas.
- SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime Show) (20-21 August, Rosehill Gardens, Rosehill)
Thank you again for your interest and support! More soon.
