Global Challenges Research Fund

Call open - register now


The IB Catalyst has now closed after four rounds. Details of winning bids, including graphical represenations on the competition as a whole, may be accessed through the BBSRC website.

Luckily, the £1.5 Billion Global Challenges Research Fund has opened and you must be quick to exploit this opportunity. The first closing date is 22 June! The first call for "Foundation Awards for Global Agricultural and Food Systems Research" can be found here.

As always, if you have any success with these or other funding streams, just let us know and we can promote your success through the AD Network. We also have some funds available to assist with meetings to develop bids - contact us at adnet@soton.ac.uk.

  • Joint IBTI Event on 30 Jun - 1 Jul, Portland Hotel, Manchester, Value Chain of Waste and Bio-resources as Feedstocks.Register here.
  • The Biochemical Society are currently recruiting for members to join their Training Theme Panel and are keen to encourage applicants from those working in industry. More information can be found here. Applications close 16th June.
  • Biovale Cluster AD Special Interest Group "Making the Most of Digestate", 17 Jun 16 at Driffield, followed by an optional GWE Biogas plant visit. More information here.
  • Diary Date: "Microbial Electrolysis Cell" workshop, 19/20 Sep 16, Durham County Cricket Club. The University of Newcastle's Prof Tom Curtis hosts this workshop which explores MECs and associated bioelectrochemical processes and is followed by an optional visit to their MEC water treatment pilot. With our next Proof of Concept Call due to be launched soon after, this is a great chance to mingle and hone your ideas. Details to follow.
  • The Royal Society Innovation Award for scientists who wish to develop a proven novel concept through to a near-market product ready for commercial exploitation. Further details can be found on the Royal Society website.
  • The BBSRC are looking for new Industry and Academic members for their Pool of Experts. More information can be found at: www.bbsrc.ac.uk/appointments. Application deadline 30 Jun 16.

AD Network joins the KTN at ADBA's UK AD & Biogas 2016

This year, there is an exciting line-up of speakers talking about the latest research in the field of Anaerobic Digestion, including researchers from the University of Southampton, Cranfield University, Loughborough University, the University of South Wales, the University of Bath, Bangor University and others. A number of companies join them to talk about the work they are doing to implement new technologies. Join us for the talks and bring your lunch along for some informal networking.

DECC Consultation on Feed-in Tariffs


DECC has launched a Feed-in Tariff Consultation on support for anaerobic digestion and micro-combined heat and power which may be of interest to you. As well as consulting on tariff levels and degression structures, the consultation also includes proposals to introduce sustainability criteria for feedstocks used in anaerobic digestion.
  If you are an industry member or have some interest in Societal Interactions or LCA analysis you might want to keep abreast of the latest news in this area.
