In this 2 hour evening workshop at the lovely Betty's Sewing Box in Ashbourne, embroider a linen square (8 x 8") using raised stitches and knots typical of Guimaraes embroidery from Portugal. Traditionally worked red on white, it was originally done to decorate pieces of clothing. Book here.
The photograph shows the first evening workshop at Betty's in May where we made Bayeux Brooches - a lovely relaxed occasion was the verdict!
The silks have arrived for the Poppy workshops and the packs are in the process of being put together! There are still places left on Saturday 24th September in Parwich and Thursday 6th October in Alstonefield. The other two dates (26/9 and 1/10) are fully booked. Book here.
An appropriate photograph to mark Her Majesty The Queen's 90th Birthday. The Union Jack is a type of Leek button wrapped using red, white and blue cotton perle threads. The Leek button is one of the button types taught on the workshop.
These are Yorkshire buttons, also taught on the workshop. The others are Leek, Austrian and Dorset Posy. There are no current plans to run this workshop again, so please book now if you would like to come along!
A few places are available on Saturday 10th September for this workshop, which includes materials for the whole cushion (8th September is fully booked). Book here.
Places are left on Thursday 1st or Saturday 3rd December in Alstonefield should you wish to work the Rooster (19th November is fully booked). The Drawn Thread work lavender bag workshop in June produced lovely results. Please let me know if you missed it and would like me to repeat this workshop next year.
And finally, workshop dates for early 2017 will be published in the next newsletter later in the summer. Look out for the Crewelwork Pomegranate as well as something completely new! I am also planning more temari ball workshops next year with different designs. Thanks to those of you who suggest ideas for workshops - I haven't forgotten them! Have a great summer!
