The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust - Summer 2016

A warm welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter.

As ever, the team has been working hard to raise the profile of ectopic pregnancy and The EPT among the public and professionals alike. We seek to spread awareness of the condition so that women and their families can get the physical and emotional care that they need during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Ectopic pregnancy making headlines

Reality TV star Charlotte Crosby (Geordie Shore, Celebrity Big Brother), talked frankly about her recent ectopic pregnancy. The story gained widespread media coverage in newspapers and on the BBC. We appeared on BBC's Radio 1's Newsbeat, importantly capturing the key 15-29 year old audience.

Make a brew and talk it through - let's raise awareness of ectopic pregnancy

Many women we speak to tell us how a cup of tea and chat can provide much-needed comfort during their recovery. We feel strongly that talking about ectopic pregnancy raises awareness of the condition and to help do this, we invite you to hold your very own EPTea Party

To request your free EPTea Party fundraising pack, send an email to our Fundraising Coordinator at fundraising.coordinator@ectopic.org.uk.

New posters highlight the symptoms and emotional impact of ectopic pregnancy
We have launched two striking posters which include The EPT's contact details so women and their families can find our services when they need information and support. The posters are distributed free of charge to healthcare professionals across the country.

To reach as many people as possible, ask your GP surgery, clinic, pharmacy or hospital to display them. They are available to order in hard copy by emailing leaflets@ectopic.org.uk as well as in an easy to download format.

Improved confidential helpline service to support anyone experiencing ectopic pregnancy

Talking about what you've been through helps the healing process. For added flexibility and convenience, we now offer a call-back service on our helpline so that you can arrange a call at a time that suits you.

We can provide a shoulder to lean on during diagnosis, treatment and recovery from ectopic pregnancy. Our moderated message boards are also available for women and their families, whenever needed.

The EPT's involvement with the APPG on Baby Loss

In February this year, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Baby Loss was established. Its purpose is â€œto develop policy that supports families dealing with the grief and loss of a baby and to raise awareness of what more can be done by the government, Parliament or other agencies to help those affected.”

The EPT has participated in meetings with MPs to ensure that early pregnancy loss is and remains on the agenda as part of these discussions. We recognise that losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy is a heart-breaking ordeal.

We have more information about ectopic pregnancy on the EPT website, and our discussion forums provide a safe, supportive environment in which to ask questions and share your experiences
