• Keep Calm and (Don't) Enable Macros: A New Threat Actor Against UAE Dissidents 

  This report describes a campaign of targeted spyware attacks carried out by a sophisticated operator, which we call Stealth Falcon. The attacks have been conducted from 2012 until the present, against Emirati journalists, activists, and dissidents. Read the New York Times' coverage.   27-29 July, Taipei, Taiwan - Citizen Lab Researcher and Communications Officer Irene Poetranto will host a workshop with OpenNet Korea at the 2016 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF).

• Access My Info launched in Hong Kong

  Access My Info (AMI), a web tool used to submit disclosure requests to telecommunications providers on the data they collect and share with third parties, launched in Hong Kong. The project was initially developed and used in Canada.
   

• Cyber Stewards Network partner ICT Watch wins 2016 WSIS Award

  Citizen Lab's Cyber Stewards Network Partner ICT Watch is one of the winners of the 2016 WSIS Champions Projects Award, for their project titled 'Internet Sehat' (Internet Healthy) Toward Indonesian Information Society.
   

• Christopher Parsons on BlackBerry and IMSI catchers

  Citizen Lab Postdoctoral Fellow Christopher Parsons reviewed documents on BlackBerry for the CBC, and was interviewed by VICE on Canada’s RCMP’s use of IMSI catchers.
