Our weekly West African drum classes are from 6 - 7 PM every Monday! Come with yo' drum and expand our circle! 

Everything in our store is local, organic, relational trade, and made with love. Email us or come by for a catering menu - anything from coffee to muffins and croissants! And don't forget our monthly colorful community calendar - free for the taking and sharing!

"Where can I find healthy food? Isn't 'local' always more expensive?" Join the conversation around nutritional food options in Philadelphia. Hear from neighbors on priorities in food shopping and eating habits, and non-profit, government, and for-profit organizations on how they promote access to healthy food and what they think is important for their customers. Saturday, 6/11  Juneberry Joy: POPLuck + Harvest  10 AM - 3 PM
@ Francisville Orchard, 1708 Ridge Ave

Join our friends at Philadelphia Orchard Project for June's POPLuck, a co-creative workparties with food, music, creative expression, and orchard-related skillsharing. For this harvest and workparty, bring food and drink to share, along with gloves and tools, creative work-in-progress, musical instruments, picnic blankets/chairs. We'll spend the morning working in the orchard and harvesting juneberries, and spend the afternoon sharing with each other and baking juneberry muffins in the solar oven! RSVP if you plan to attend, and check out the other juneberry events happening this week! 

Saturday,  6/11  White Allies in the Struggle for Racial Justice  9:30 AM
@ Berean Institute, 1901 W. Girard Ave.

Drick Boyd, Assoc. Professor at Eastern U., will lead us in reflecting on crucial issues from his new book. We will explore what it means to be a white ally in the contemporary context of mass incarceration of people of color, police brutality, anti-immigration sentiment, and other racially-based forms of discrimination and oppression. What does it actually mean to be an ally? A light breakfast will be served, donations requested. More info on the event page.

Join NKCDC and partners at a resource fair to have all of your questions answered, and be sure to attend the home repair workshop!

Saturday, 6/11  Scraptastic Sewing!  3 - 5 PM
@ The Resource Exchange, 1701 N 2nd St

Artist Kristie Landry will teach participants how to put those left over pieces of fabric to use. Combine textures, colors, patterns along with ribbons & trims to make useful objects. Workshop attendees will sew from a choice of items, tissue holder, mobile device sleeve, pot holder, or a small shoulder bag. Learn more.

This is June Berry week in Philly! Check out the trees hanging above your heads on our streets for a fun chance to pick some of these delicious and nutritious babies, great plain or for smoothies, jams, and pies!  You can also volunteer to pick the juneberries in many of our orchards, and take them home or donate them to those in need!  POP (Philadelphia Orchard Project) has a sign-up list for activities this week.
