Orlando Kannada Sangha 501c(3) non-profit organization
ಕಡೆತವಿಲೆವಾರಿ: OKS filed tax return for the year 2015. As you are aware OKS has obtained 501c(3) tax exempt status. All your donations, contributions are tax deductible. Tax consultant/CPA Fozia Andorage attended the last board meeting and explained the benefits of contributing to 501 c(3) and supporting its charitable events. Legal experts Rakesh & Thimmanna held meeting with OKS board members on charitable projects in Karnataka. Kindly contact our treasurer Kiran Babaladi for donation forms or other questions.

ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ Thanks for participating in the picnic & food drive. Thanks to all who volunteered at Food Bank. Please note we have several youth activities this summer. First Youth Conference organized by us.Three age categories (3rd grade to High School) & FREE to OKS members. Several speakers are lined up to prepare our youth for future. Limited seating so kindly register. ($25 for non-members). Also Summer movie, Fall devotional concert in Sep. by ಶ್ರೀ Vidya Bhushan is under works. Please come and support our organization. Rajyotsava ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ is in Nov/Dec. We need programs. Please contact me or Shamala with programs.

In the News -  Jyothi -ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು
Jyothi Praveen was recently honored by the Department of Health (DOH) in Volusia county as the "Employee of the year 2015". She began her career as a Biological Scientist with DOH in Highlands county Sebring FL in the year 2011 and later moved to Volusia county in Daytona Beach. Her nature of work includes disease investigation and emergency preparedness to keep the volusia county residents safe and healthy.  Click here for more info covered in Khaas Bhaat
Thanks - Food Drive & ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆ at Food Bank
Food drive on Apr 30th was a success. Our thanks to all the donations to food bank. OKS youth and adults volunteered at Second harvest food bank on May 7th. It was very touching experience for our youth to see with how little food one has to live with. At OKS youth conference in summer they will learn how to use space technology to help in drought and fight hunger.
New Youth programs at OKS
All your tax deductible contributions will go to a worthy cause and our youth will be empowered and connected with our motherland. 

OKS Youth Ambassador program
 is a new program designed to be run and operated by Orlando Kannada Sangha youth. The second meeting has taken place and project plan  is in the works for the pilot program for the youth, organizations and schools in C.Florida & Karnataka. Next year high school seniors will have to submit an essay on their project that meets the objectives of OKS and a committee of one OKS board member, Dr. Jayashree Shivamoggi & previous youth ambassador will select the youth or youths. This calender year a maximum matching fund of $250 has been approved by the board. OKS will encourage the youth to do fundraising operations in support of their cause. Youth ambassadors will be recognized and service hours alloted and such programs will be recognized by colleges for admission. Any one interested in ideas and programs please contact Guru or Praveen or Pradeep or Suddhi@orlandokannadasangha.org .

OKS Note book distribution Ambassador program is a new program designed to be run and operated by Orlando Kannada Sangha youth. The youth will donate notebooks to needy children in Karnataka by participating with NGO's and schools in Karnataka. OKS has approved a maximum of $250 matching funds for this program. Those interested in this program please contact Girish Budibetta or Shamala or Veda. 

 OKS Youth Conference is a annual conference for our youth to meet and exchange ideas, learn from classes, share experience from youth ambassador programs, design new service projects to benefit CFlorida and Karnataka. Please contact Shamala, Praveen or Veda. A pilot program will be launched on July 23 of this year and we need your youth to participate in a 1 day conference. Details. Please contact Veda, Shamala, Umesh  or Praveen on this.

Kannada Kali workshop will be held this summer for those interested in learning kannada and also participating in youth ambassador programs. 5 day workshop is currently planned in conjunction with other youth programs. Please contact Pradeep, Veda or Shamala for details.

ಯುುಗಾದಿಯ ಸಡಗರ- Fun at Yugadi Picnic .
Thanks to all from Melbourne and Greater Orlando area for attending the picnic and bringing tasty YUGADHI FOOD. Hope you enjoyed the food and programs. Special thanks to Vinay for arranging the puzzles and Fox Hunt. All our Kannada knowledge was put to test. Kids had the pickle ball, volley ball to keep busy. Shamala's Nescafe, Kumars Maddur vade and Neeru Majjige (spicy buttermilk) brought memories of Maddur & Mangalore. Cricket as usual was fun. Thanks to Guru for keeping the Neeru Majjige machine going during Cricket. Tea break was replaced with Majjige break. Next time Dr. Himanshu Sastry will do the quality control to make sure water adulteration is under control for Neeru Majjige batches. Thanks to all on the OKS board for tirelessly working along with their committees and making this a success. Until next time..

Congratulate Shreya ರಾಮನ್, voted as Ms. Titusville High 2016 for all round talent & going to Univ. of Florida. Congratulate Meesha Naveen going to UCF and Akshay Prasad one of three students in history of Seminole High to finish in three years and going to Rollins. They are working on their youth ambassador program at OKS.
* Maanya Krishnamurthy and Neha Patil participated in the NSF Spelling bee, Math competition held in Orlando.
* Shankari Somasekar, Dhanya Acharya, Yadusha Oleti & Keerthana Dhulipala participated in the annual Nrutya Academy Dance program

Apoorva Lokesh, Ananya Lokesh and Anoop Murthy, participated in the Florida State Level Odyssey of the Mind and achieved the 4th place win at State Level for their "No Cycle Recycle" Problem. They built 2 Ecosystems, Recycle Center and a Vehicle to pick up the trash from those ecosystems! 

Akshay Prasad recognized by Apollo moon astronaut Buzz Aldrin & National Academy of future technologists.
