Sponsor Run To Benefit Mission Fund
Cape Atlantic District Superintendent Brian Roberts will run the Spartan Race on Father’s Day 2016. The race, taking place on Tuxedo Mountain, NY will raise money for the Mission Fund and include a five mile run up, down, and around the ski slopes and more than 20 obstacles. The Mission Fund’s goal is to raise $12 million which averages to $90 per worshiper, per year or $1.75 per week. Circles of Hope recognizes and helps our congregations track their giving to the Mission Fund.

NBA MVP Stephen Curry: Call Your Shot To Beat Malaria For Good
Basketball star Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors launched a new campaign called #CallYourShot – challenging us to be a part of the team to end malaria. Just a few years ago there were more than 1,000,000 malaria related fatalities. In 2015, due to the hard work and support of United Methodists, that number was reduced to 438,000. An over 50% increase in life is worth celebrating, but there’s still more work to do. You can be on the team that beats malaria for good! You can be on the team that beats malaria for good! Conference Journals
If you’d like a bound, printed copy of the 2016 Conference Journal, click here to order. Printed journals are available free to all retired clergy upon request and all others for a fee of $18. No CD-ROMs will be produced this year, however the journal will be available for review and download on the website. Clergy and lay personal information will be passcode protected. Deadline for ordering a hard copy journal is August 15.

2016 Laity Leadership Academy
Providing the tools and skills for lay leaders facing the challenges of the 21st century, the Academy offers expert assistance and guidance in creating vital small group ministries, inspiring worship experiences, an evangelism church, and a social media ministry.
Churches are encouraged to send a team of lay leaders to develop an action plan to implement in their church. Certified Lay Servants who successfully complete the Academy and implement an action plan will receive re-certification recognition.

Prayers for Rev. Jisun Kwak
Delaware Bay District Superintendent Jisun Kwak was elected by the GNJ Annual Conference as an episcopal candidate for the July Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference. Recently Rev. Kwak needed medical attention and is currently under a doctor’s care. Bishop Schol invites all to pray with him for Jisun and her health. So that she can fully heal, please do not contact Rev. Kwak with district business. You are certainly welcome to send cards and well wishes. Superintendents Myrna Bethke and Brian Roberts will be sharing responsibilities for the district. Bishop Responds To Orlando Terrorism
GNJ Bishop John Schol responded to the shooting massacre that took place over the weekend in Orlando, FL. “Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones and the people of Orlando,” the Bishop said, calling all United Methodists to pray for the victims and their families.
