OutsiderXchanges is a pioneering collaborative visual arts project that Venture Arts has initiated in partnership with Castlefield Gallery and Baltic centre for Contemporary Arts. Supported by Arts Council England, OutsiderXchanges brings together learning disabled and non-learning disabled artists in a shared art space to explore collaborative practice and create new work.

All the artists are now half way through this experimental arts project and we were delighted to invite members of the public into the space on Saturday 28th May as part of Chorlton Arts Festival at Castlefield Gallery's New Art Spaces, Chorlton. The day was a great success as the public were given the unique opportunity to meet the artists and see the artistic collaborative developments. The day including a live drawing of the event by Leslie Thompson, Horace Lindezey interviewing willing participants about 'School Days' with collaborating artist Juliet Davis. If you would like to hear more about these interviews check out Manifest Arts Podcast from the day here.  David James and Matt Girling also shared their artistic practice and collaborative ideas on the day too.

MANCHESTER DAY - JUNE 19TH 12-6PM CITY CENTRE - WALK THE PLANK
Venture Arts artists are busy making costumes for their part in Manchester Day with Leonard Cheshire Disability CanDo project, working with Walk the Plank artists Fi Smith and Jo Foley. Using the theme 'Eureka!' our artists are creating a giant brain for the occasion!
Also featuring on the parade this year, our Outsiderxchanges lead artist Tanya-Raabe-Webber and Sarah Lee are working with Venture Arts artists Sarah Crosby and Sofie Layton, who specialises in large-scale sculpture, performance and installation to make huge wire and textile 'floating bodies' showcasing disability culture and aesthetic. We're really excited and can't wait for the parade. Hope you can make it!

CITIES OF HOPE - Championing the work of Social Justice Organisations through Street Art

We are so pleased to have been a social justice partner in this amazing project. 9 of the worlds most prominent street artists have worked on this unique project including Axel Void and Phlegm. These renowned artists have addressed a number of social causes within their work; global issues that resonate with them on a personal level. Their work is matched to the work of a local social justice organisation. Coinciding with the project photographic works by some of our artists were exhibited at Artisan Coffee house, Takk Manchester. If you haven't already, we would urge you to take a walk around Ancoats and the Northern Quarter to truly appreciate these amazing works! Dominic Bennett attended one of the street tours and he absolutely loved it. Dominic's own work is also influenced by street culture, as we saw with his graffiti piece included in the Heart and Sold tour, which made this tour all the more special for him!

Many thanks to organiser of the project Raja Miah for selecting us to take part.
