On May 17, I had an anniversary, of sorts, in ministry here in Prague. That day marked five years since I arrived in Prague. Looking back can be both positive and dangerous at times. Positive in that a flood of memories come back, as well as seeing all that God has done in the last five years. Dangerous in that it is easy to fall into a trap of inadequacy in terms of what has worked and what hasn't, what we could have done better, and questions of effectiveness. Overall, I am pleased with the last five years. I have seen God move in some amazing ways. Naturally, there are some things I would do different, but it is not possible to gain wisdom without experience.
Probably one of the hardest, yet most rewarding things about my time now is that the longer I'm here, the more I work with and deal with people who are mired in sin. It is hard because the longer I am here, the more I see how truly broken people are. And people are ugly at times. We all are. However, a benefit of being here longer term is I am in a better position to walk with people. Simply by being a reliable constant in a lot of peoples' lives, I am able to help.
I have been on the ground here in Prague for a little over a month now. The Lions continue to roll through the Czech League and ministry with TaCesta is starting to pick up, as well.
The Lions are currently 7-0 and sitting in first place in the Czech league. We have an inside track to playing in our first Czech Bowl since 2013. Every season has its own set of highlights and challenges, but I really do feel like this group is special. We have a solid core of Czech players supplemented by a great group of Americans. If we can stay healthy, I'm very optimistic about how this season will end up. We have three remaining regular season games that will be pretty tough, then the championship game.
