Are you part of a nonprofit organization providing one-on-one pro bono financial planning to people in need? Do you serve cancer patients, military, or other vulnerable individuals with free, no-strings-attached financial guidance?

6th Annual Pro Bono Awards... Submit your nomination now! 

Are you or someone you know committed to pro bono financial planning? 

The Financial Planning magazine and Foundation for Financial Planning's Pro Bono Awards recognize the community service work of advisers who have contributed their time and talents to helping those in need take control of their finances.

The Pro Bono Planner of the Year award is presented to an
adviser in recognition of their significant pro bono contributions to a nonprofit or social service organization.
  • The Pro Bono Planner of the Year winner will receive a $5,000 grant to the charity through which he or she has provided free financial planning services, courtesy of the Foundation for Financial Planning. 
  • The charities of two runner-ups will receive $2,500 each
Honorees will be announced online and in the August issue of Financial Planning

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES
  • Nominees must be active, or retired, financial planners (e.g., CFP®), registered representatives (e.g. Series 7) or registered investment advisors.
  • Volunteer involvement with the nonprofit organization must be current and ongoing as of the last 12 months.
  • Activities must have included one-on-one pro bono financial advice and guidance for underserved populations. (e.g., low income, high school and college students, social service agency clients, military personnel and families, individuals in a crisis situation such as violence abuse victims, affected by a catastrophic situation such as medical, death, bankruptcy, etc.)

Summary 
Abacus’ President, Cheryl Holland, and Abacus’ leader of Business Development, Eddie Kramer, will host a day of collaborative discussion on best practices in business development for financial advisory firms. Abacus’ goal is to share the firm’s culture of business development, including the mentoring of younger advisers, building your brand, improving networking skills (including social media), and developing processes for a constant focus on business development and consistent experience for each potential client.    

Abacus will share digital formats of all materials with participants, from checklists to branding content.
