This Sunday Only: 11am mass includes indulgence
The newly ordained Father Michael McClellan (pictured at left bestowing his first priestly blessing upon his parents) will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving this Sunday at 11am and, thanks to a special edict from the Vatican, all attendees will be granted a plenary indulgence--the closest thing you'll get to a get-out-of-purgatory-free card!

Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary
Tomorrow (Friday)'s feast celebrates Jesus's Sacred Heart, a devotion bestowed upon St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (pictured at right) in the 17th century, while Saturday we celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

Sunday's Readings
In the First Reading from the First Book of Kings, the prophet Elijah raises the Widow of Zarephath's son from the dead. This prefigurement of Christ is fulfilled in Luke's Gospel when Jesus raises from the dead the only son of the Widow of Nain.
